Random Question: 1 Item

If you were being forced to give up everything you owned, but were told you could pick ONE item to save. What would that item be?

Before you decide, bear in mind that necessities like food, clothing, etc aren't included in this. Those things would still be provided regardless of your choice of item. I'm asking about personal items (a favourite book, a special piece of jewelry, a treasured photograph, that sort of thing).

Wow, that's a hard question to answer. I don't think I have a favorite book/dvd/cd etc that I couldn't live without. I'm sure I could live without a computer or tv if I had to. But I can't name just one photograph that I'd want, because there are several I can't part with. So it would have to be a wall picture frame, that has spaces for several pictures, including my parents, friends, pets, etc.

I have most of my pictures in a largish cardboard box - with only a few of them in photo albums.

This is a hard question - at first I thought I would just leave everything behind - make a completely fresh start... and then decided that I wasn't sure I could really do that.

So maybe I'll just take a several internet account passwords (email, blogger, IM) with me... and hope where ever I end up - their is a public computer I can use to restore the connection to friends.

Or maybe I'll just take a big empty box. They make good props for games, like playing 'Fort' and be good for sleeping in when it's windy...

Oh, I dont think I could narrow it down to just one item. Assuming food, clothes, husband and kids are already included...I can narrow it down to 2 items. Same 2 items I made absolutely SURE to have with me in 2003 when I ran. The first is my baby book. They simply do not make baby books like they did when I was a child, that's for certain. This one extends all the way until I get to be a grandma and later. It's got the family tree in it, my allergies, where I've lived, the pets I've had etc etc etc. Definitely a piece of history I dont want to leave behind. The second item would be my stuffed bear Ralph. My mom made him for me when I was just 3 or 4 yrs old. No way I'd leave him behind.

Good answer. :)

Iggy:
LOL! :)

Yep... Food, clothes, hubby, furkids and that kind of thing would all be taken care of. And I can see why you could only narrow it down to two items.

Tay's answer: her radio (she's sitting here as I'm reading your blog today, Tori.)

My answer: This is a very hard question. Part of me wants to say a favorite book, but I've got so MANY favorite books. I guess, by default, I'd have to pick my crochet-hook set. With my set, I could still make afghans and bags and such, even if the yarn was not one of my belongings.
