Furkid thoughts: the Christmas mouse

Hi humans, it's Kero here!

What does Mami have there?

WOW! It's a mouse teddy that plays, "we wish you a Merry Christmas," when you squeeze its tummy! I wish I had a mouse like that!

What?

Oh, WOW! It is for me!

Hey, come back mouse... You're mine!

Don't you just love unexpected presents?

Licks and sniffs,
Kero

What a cute mouse! I bet Kero likes it a lot! Just be careful with it Kero and treat it gently so it lasts for a long time!

Hi Kero!!!

Hey... You rememebr last year with Gwyddy when you were plotting to actually "catch" Sandy Paws? Well, he's loading his sled now - and he will be there soon - so you better brush off those plans!!

I hope Mr. Mouse and Nut are getting along. :)

Betty:
You're too late.

Rita:
Sometimes; he used to all the time as a puppy, but now he only does it with certain toys. I don't think he realizes until it's too late what will happen though, because he always seems upset to find the toy broken. When possible I mend the toy (and he usually then doesn't break it again for some time) but how badly he's chewed it and what it's made of willdetermine whether that's possible or not.

Betty:
I tried to be gentle, but I was trying to figure out where it kept the noise part and it broke. Mami might have fixed it, but I think Dadi got to it first, and if I'm right then it probably ended up in the bin.

Rita:
I don't mean to chew them up; I'm trying to figure out how they work, and they just break... It's not my fault!

Iggy:
Yes, I remember about that, and I was just thinking he'd be coming soon. I'll be writing my Christmas letter to him in a few days. We don't have a chimney here, but Mami says he'll still find a way in... She says he has a magic key. I better keep a close watch on that door (especially since this year I have nobody to help me watch for him).

I'm not allowed to play with nut; Mami put Nut on a shelf and said, "Mami's teddy, not Kero's teddy," which means I'm not allowed it even if it falls down. I hate that she has that rule, but I know dogs get scolded badly if they touch teddies that are human toys; I remember from when I was a puppy, and was reminded when Jayde was here and she climbed up on the bed to get on the cupboard so she could reach the shelves, and she got hold of a really special teddy that Mami has. Dadi got it for Mami; it was the first thing he ever brought her, and Jayde chewed one of the eyes off. Mami snarled so much that Jayde and I hid for ages afterwards, and we both now know that teddies on shelves belong to humans and not dogs!

I did get to sniff Nut though, and I do look longingly at some of the teddies on the shelves... They'd make great play toys!

Licks and sniffs,
Kero
