O is for Ocean

The ocean is beautiful, and I love living near it.

I love how you can hear it when it's rough, and how the sound seems to mingle with the stormy sea winds. And love the soft sigh it seems to make when you're near enough to hear it when it's calm. I love the salty smell in the air near it, and the sound of the seabirds (which is just as well, since that one's an almost constant noise).

Here's a photo of the shimmering reflection of the full moon on the ocean; taken when the photos posted in the "M is for Moon" post were taken.

I love the ocean too and often wish we lived near one. But that is not meant to be. Your description of it is perfect!

Great photo of the moon shimmering on the water.

"I love the salty smell in the air near it" and the poet hits again.

The ocean, specially at night, is one of the things that I love most.

I haven't been near the ocean since I was a kid and our family drove to Florida on vacations, but you never forget the smell and the sound of the waves and the birds that greets you before you can even see it. Almost as if you can taste the salt in the air, too. :)

Betty:
Your comment reminds me of a piece near the start of part 2 of "Alone On A Wide Wide Sea" when Ali says about how she feels like she's special because she's the first person to sail on this spacific wave, and nobody can ever do so again.

Deanna:
Well, you'll have to get your fill via photos of mine. :)

Mags:
You really know how to make me smile! :)

And, I'm glad I could provide a photo of your favourite thing!

I love the ocean. I love being in that atmosphere...hearing the waves roll up onto the beach and walking in the sand. (wet, cool sand is much easier on the feet than hot, dry sand) I haven't been to the ocean since 1996, but I'd like to go back one day. It's about a six hour drive from where I live.

Very nice picture of the moon's reflection on the water.

You wont want bare feet on this beach; it's a stoney beach.

I grew up in California and the ocean is one of the things I miss here in Oklahoma. The sound and the smell are truly something special.
