My haircut May 2012

I've needed a haircut since about January. I don't feel ready to take myself somewhere like that though, and every time Kelly's planned to do so it's been too wet for him and Kero to stand outside while my hair gets cut. Also, I think hairdressers charge too much, and they never do exactly what I want done. Last time I just cut it myself, much to Kelly and my Mam's annoyance. So it waited and waited, and grew and grew.

Finally, a few weeks ago, I decided I'd had enough. So I cut it myself again. I don't think I did too badly considering I'm no hairdresser and I was literally cutting blind, LOL!

Kelly wasn't too happy I did it myself, but says I did OK. What do you think?

I haven't told my Mam yet, LOL!

I cut my own hair too. My hubby trims the back for me since I can't reach it. I hate paying so much so I even color my own grays away.

I think you did fine!

Yeah, they charge way too much!

And, thanks! :)

I'm pretty impressed that you did that yourself - you did a really good job! I used to do my own at least part of the time, largely due to the cost. However, I messed up my color several years ago (the brand I had been using no longer had my color and I tried something else) and went to a salon to get it fixed. It looked so much better that my husband encouraged me to continue having it done professionally. In fact, I have an appointment today. My stylist does a great job and I get compliments on it, but the cost is ridiculous. Ah, the price of vanity. ;)

I think you did great Tori! And I admire you for cutting it yourself!! I've thought about cutting mine myself, but I can't cut a straight line. I know what you mean though getting to the point where you just want it cut; mine was like that before I got it cut about a month ago.

I think you look great with your new haircut!!!

betty

I think you did a really good job, Tori. I'm totally impressed! Hairdressers do charge a lot, but it is one of my splurges to myself.

I used to cut my own hair years ago, but always had a hard time with the back. Looks like you did a good job!

I'm lucky that Leah cuts mine for me these days. Mine is just blunt cut--no bangs. :)

You did a good cutting it yourself. I've trimmed mine in places, but I've never attempted to actually cut it. (i bet your Mam knows it by now. lol)

Only if she's seen this post. I still haven't seen her in person since, nor have I told her, so unless she checks the blogs and sees this post, she still doesn't know, LOL!

I think you did great. I cut my own hair, too, most of the time. But I've never done it blind *grin* I might cut my ear off!

Definitely a good job. I agree, the stylists can be really spendy, but like Deanna said... it's the one real splurge I do for myself. I only go in a couple times a year, three at the most and always drop a bundle there because I go all out and spoil myself with the wash and conditioning treatment as well. It just feels so good to let someone else deal with it for a change, ya know? As for the greys, I used to go get those done too (again, I'd only go a couple times a year so it wasn't too bad cost-wise) but then found a color close to what the stylist had been using. Did it on my own for awhile up until I started using my cane. Then I figured, if I was breaking down everywhere else, I may as well look it up top too. Haven't colored in 18-20 months (the new stylist I have says that there isn't a trace of colorant up there anymore) and it actually feels a little better conditionwise. Got a few greys up there but not as many as I could have. Actually got so I've accepted the greys, just not the natural brunette that my hair is. Would love to have the red and keep the greys.... LOL!!

I went through a colouring phase in my mid and late teens, but I actually like my natural hair colour and the way the red in it shows up more if the sun catches it right. And I don't need to worry too much about styling since I have a natural curl which comes in if I don't let my hair get too long. That's part of why I like it relatively short; I love that slight curl. The last hairdresser I went to told me people pay a lot of money to get the slight curl I have; she was jealous, which I thought was great. *wink*

I don't like people fussing with me though, which doesn't help. I'd rather treat myself with packages and bubble baths! ;)
