Guest post: writing tools

I've done another guest post on New Author Online, which went up today.

This time the topic is writing tools; from early scribbles when I still had enough sight to use a pencil, to more recent writing tools.

If you want to read the post, just go to

But when you type on a keyboard how do you know what you have typed? Do you have a special program that reads it back to you in one of those mechanical voices? :)

I always had pen or pencil and notebooks with me at all times, too. Still do. And I don't write stories like you do, but I am always writing lists or notes to myself. :)

True... I never did mention JAWS in that post, did I?

Well, you know I have a screen reader that reads back to me in a voice that doesn't even have the emotional range of a teaspoon. But, for the benefit of anyone reading this who doesn't know about JAWS... Ever heard the voice thing Stephen Hawking has? Well, JAWS sounds something like that when it reads things back to me.

My Kindle's read out loud function isn't much different, though JAWS is set on a male voice, and the Kindle I currently have is set on a female voice (I just left them on their default voices).

I bet if I typed this comment with my eyes closed - it would be nothing but random garbage. Your touch typing skill is impressive!
