#Furkid Friday: Of #Degu Houses

Hi humans, rodents, and anyone else reading this. This is Joshua the degu.

There's not much happening in the degu cage right now, except that we degus need a new wooden house.

The human caretakers say we wouldn't if we didn't keep chewing on it. But we have to keep our teeth down, don't we?

OK, yeah, so we have sticks, gnawing blocks, etc. But that's not the point... The wood our house is made of just tastes so good! Plus, it's right there when we wake up from a nap.

So, we just ignore the human caretakers and keep right on gnawing on our house.

Which, as I said, means we need a new one again.

We're almost three and a half, and this is already our fourth house. Now we'll need a fifth one.

It's not so bad while it's still Summer, because the holes we've made give extra ventalation. But the human caretakers better get us one before Winter, because we'll need it when the cold weather comes.

You hear that, humans?

Squeak soon,
Joshua

I hope you get a tasty new house soon!!! What flavor would you prefer? Oak? Maple?

I think the houses the human caretakers usually get us are pine. We're also quite partial to anything made from applewood or willow. So, I think those would be our preference. I don't think we're allowed maple, because there may be traces of the sweet sugary sap in it, and we have to be careful with sugars.

Squeak soon,
Joshua

I suppose so. Though the human caretakers better get us a new one before it does.
