Sakura's 3rd Birthday

Today is Sakura (our eldest cat)'s third birthday. I took a couple of photos, but Sakura's not the most cooperative cat when it comes to taking photos, so I'm afraid they aren't all that good. But, here's one of them anyway. You'll have to go look in her photo album if you want to see the others.

As you can see, we got her a yellow ball (it's a sort of rubbery ball with a bell in it) and, of course, her birthday card. Sakura's never been the most playful of cats, but on the odd occasion that she does play, it's usually with a ball that makes a noise. We've had countless plastic balls, but they've never lasted long, because they break easily. So, we're hoping that this rubbery one will last her longer.

I think I'll let her have some tuna for her dinner tonight. I'm sure she'll like that. I bet Megan and Chance will be happy to join her in polishing off a can of tuna. LOL!

I had a cat while growing up that was the same way. Only his favorite wasnt the noisy balls (man that just sounds wrong...LOL) but he LOVED the catnip mice. Man, you'd toss him one of those and it didnt last 2 hours. The tail would get chewed off and there would only be a scrap of whisker left!

LOL@ the tuna. The cat I have now the only "human food" that she goes nuts for is tuna.

I have to have a variety of cat toys in my house. Sakura prefers the noisy balls (you're right, that does sound wrong, lol), Megan prefers scratch posts and those toys on rods (which I attatch to things so she can play when she wants to) and Chance prefers catnip toys. So, I have to have some of everything to keep them all happy.

My girls will eat almost everything in the meat, fish and dairy catagories, but Chance's more fussy. He likes tuna, ham, chicken, sausage and bacon... that's it! Though, he does like the odd bowl of milk from time to time. Chance is even fussy when it comes to cat food. LOL! He doesn't like the meat in gravy, and the only cat treat he likes is 'Whiskas KitBits' which are a soft cat treat. And, he doesn't like cat biscuits, he prefers dog biscuits. LOL!

LOL Sending some pats & snuggles, if she'll accept them from a friend far away in Alaska. ;)

Kati:
She'll be quite happy to accept the pats. The snuggles depend on her mood though. If you try to pick her up for a hug when she's not in the mood for one, she bites.

2-year olds aren't the most cooperative when it comes to taking pictures either -lol. I like the photo of Sakura you chose!

Katie:
Thanks! It's a Japenese name that means 'Cherry Blssom' but we actually picked it because it was the name of the other main character in the cartoon we got Kero's name from, and at the time we only planned on having the two of them, so thought it would be nice to have their names sort of linked.

Kaylee:
I'm sure Sakura says "Thanks"

Carol:
Yeah, babies and toddlers aren't the easiest to photograph. And, that goes for humans and animals. LOL! My boys make it quite easy though, because Chance loves the attention, so is happy to pose, and I taught Kero to pose for the camera. It took a lot of patience, but it was worth it. Shame it's not as easy with a cat or human. LOL!

The two cats I used to have both loved catnip toys, more so than noisy balls. I had a mouse with catnip, and a big red fuzzy, squishy ball. Both cats would bite into one of them, roll over, then scratch like crazy using their back paws. Sometimes I could get one of them to chase after the mouse if I rolled it across the floor, but not often.

That sounds like the way Chance plays. LOL! I bet you were glad they prefered the quieter toys. :)
