A couple of weeks ago, I saw this post on Rachel Poli's blog, and thought the writing ritual tag looked fun. So, I'm joining in. I'm not tagging anyone though, so just join in if you feel like it, and - as Rachel says in her post - leave me a link in the comments section if you do, that way I can check out your post... I'd really love to be able to read your answers if you play along.
Of course, with my lack of routine, my writing habits do change a bit from time to time, so this is just how things stand at the moment, or what the answer generally is. Anyway...
1. When do you write? (time of day, day of week)
I try to write every day, whether it be just a few words, or several pages. As for when... Well, that depends on what my sleep schedule is like at the time, what else is going on, and when the furkids - especially our little Westie pup, Lilie, who can be quite demanding - will allow me to do so. At the time I'm writing this post it seems to mostly be late morning or early afternoon, but that could change at any time.
2. How do you seclude yourself from the outside world?
I don't really. But since I don't socialize much, it's mostly just family - furry and otherwise - or the postman who could potentially disturb me most days anyhow. Actually, if I'm honest, it's mostly Lilie, who thinks regular puppy playtime breaks are essential, and doesn't understand my desire to have longer gaps between said breaks.
3. How do you review what you wrote the previous day?
I technically don't. I usually only read the last paragraph or two, just to be sure of where I left off, which isn't really reviewing what I wrote the day before. At least, I don't think it is. I don't review the whole thing until I'm doing the next draft, unless it's been a very long time since I worked on the project in question, which I'm assuming wouldn't be the case if I worked on it the previous day.
4. What song is your go-to when you’re feeling uninspired?
I can't say I have one. There are songs that speak to me, but I wouldn't say I listen to a spacific song when I'm feeling uninspired. Actually, I've not been listening to much music in general lately. When I do listen to music though, it's usually either country music, pop/rock (the lighter side of rock) or - if I'm in the right mood for it - a piece of classical music.
5. What do you always do (i.e. listen to music, read, watch youtube, etc.) when you find yourself struggling with writer’s block?
I'll either go work on another writing project, take a furkid play break, or go do something like read or watch TV and try again tomorrow. Either that, or I'll decide it's probably that I'm tired, in which case I'll take a nap.
6. What tools do you use when you’re writing?
Microsoft Word to do the actual writing, and JAWS to know what I'm writing (JAWS being my screen reader, without which my computer would just be a box with buttons and wires to me, since I wouldn't be able to tell what was on the screen).
7. What’s the one thing you can’t live without during a writing session?
I'm not sure there's anything. As long as I have a way to write, and a way to read what I just wrote if I want/need to, I'm good to go. I do like to have a drink to hand while I write, but I could write without one if I needed to, so I wouldn't say that counts.
8. How do you fuel yourself during your writing session?
As mentioned above, I usually have a drink on hand, be it tea, pop/soda, or juice - sometimes both a hot drink and a cold one. Snacks vary though. Sometimes I have them on hand, sometimes I don't, depending on if I fancy something. If I do have snacks, it would be either cookies/biscuits, crisps/potato chips, dried fruit, nuts, chocolate, or some combination of those things.
9. How do you know when you’re done writing?
With stories, I know when I'm done because the story feels like it's finished. I don't worry about word count or anything like that while writing. I just write, and stop when it feels done.
It's basically the same with poetry, except I get to that point where it feels done much quicker.

Meet My Character Blog Tour
This tour highlights a main character from one of the WIP (works in progress), recently published, or soon to be published works of the authors tagged. A week ago, I was tagged in this event by Alexandra Butcher. Here' are her bio and links:
"A.L Butcher is the British author of fantasy series The Light Beyond the Storm Chronicles in which "a beautiful young elven sorceress flees for her life in a dark world where magic is forbidden and elves live as slaves." Her books have been described as: "Dark" and "gritty" and that "The story is very much a romance at heart, with plenty of steamy graphic sex to keep erotica fans happy." She also has several short stories published in fantasy and romance anthologies."

Now it's my turn...
1) What is the name of your character? Is he/she fictional or a historic person?
“My character’s name is Jinx. Jinx is a pixie; a pixie rogue, to be exact. I’m not going to get in to a debate as to whether or nnot pixies exist, but this particular pixie is fictional. Jinx is based on a combination of my own opinions on what pixies should be, and how they’re portrayed in the Pathfinder roleplaying system (which I used to help me design the character and decide on his skills and abilities).”
2) When and where is the story set?
“I suppose, if I have to pick a time and place, I’d have to say that the story is set back when forests and woodlands were less frequently visited by people, and that it’s set in one of those woods, as well as in a cave on the edge of that wood. Beyond that, I can’t really tell you when and where it’s set, since there’s no clearly defined date or location for the story, and both the woods and the cave are pulled from my imagination.”
3) What should we know about him/her?
“Jinx is a charming and kind-hearted pixie really, but – like most pixies – he’s fond of tricks and mischief. Unfortunately for everyone around him, Jinx is more fond of these things than your average pixie, and is always causing chaos wherever he goes; sometimes just because he’s bored and thinks it will liven things up a bit. He’s also very fond of exploring, and having adventures.”
4) What is the main conflict? What messes up his/her life?
“Jinx’s little sister, Ayla, is always trying to get him to behave, and constantly warning him that he’ll get in to serious trouble one day. As far as Jinx is concerned, she’s just jealous that he has more fun than she does, and he finds her constant reminders of possible danger annoying. There are also the goblins who live in the cave Jinx and his faerie dragons want to explore, who add an element of extra danger to his thirst for adventure. Not that Jinx is concerned, since he never takes the possibility of danger seriously.”
5) What is the personal goal of the character?
“Jinx’s goal is to fit as much fun and as many adventures as possible in to his life, despite his little sister’s constant warnings.”
6) Is there a working title for this novel, and can we read more about it?
“The title of the story is ‘Jinx And The Faerie Dragons’ and I’ve mentioned it a few times in posts and interviews lately. It’s already pre-released, so Smashwords and any other ebook retailers that already carry it have the synopsis listed, as does Goodreads. Also, you can read a sample of the first 20% of the story on Smashwords via the link mentioned below.”
7) When can we expect the book to be published?
“The book is already pre-released, and is scheduled for official release on July 1st 2014. The Smashwords link is http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/447528 (for other sites, such as Barnes And Noble, you’ll have to go search for it, since I don’t have the link).”

I'm only tagging one person today, and the person I'm going to tag is Rita Lee Chapmen. Here are her bio and links:
"Rita Lee Chapman was born in the UK and migrated to Australia in her early twenties. It was only when she retired that she wrote her first novel Missing in Egypt a romantic travel mystery. Her second book Winston - a Horse's Tale is for horse lovers from teenagers upwards. Told by Winston himself it relates his life experiences in Australia, as well as those of other horses he meets along the way. Rita enjoys playing tennis, reading, swimming, walking and the theatre."

Author tag chain
This is an author blog tag chain about our writing, and I was tagged in this event by Alexandra Butcher.
"Alexandra Butcher is the British author of the Light Beyond the Storm Chronicles series and several short stories in the fantasy and fantasy romance genre. She is an avid reader and creator of worlds, a poet and a dreamer. When she is grounded in the real world she likes science, natural history, history and monkeys."

Now it's my turn to answer the questions...
1. What am I working on?
"I'm currently working on a story called 'Jinx And The Faerie Dragons' (which should be finished and published in the next couple of months). It's about a pixie and his faerie dragon friends who are always getting in to mischief, but one day get in to more mischief than usual, finding themselves in a cave full of goblins and a whole lot of trouble. I'm also working on a story called 'Cubby And The Beanstalk' (though this one is only in very rough draft right now). It's an alternative version of 'Jack And The Beanstalk' with bears. Oh, and I just finished a story called 'Quest For The Purple Pumpkin' a couple of weeks ago; it's a story about a little girl who ends up in a world full of elves where just being human is punishable by death. That last one has been submitted for inclusion in a collection of fantasy and science fiction stories a group of Smashwords authors are putting together via a Goodreads group, which will be published in a few months time. I also have several other ideas in various stages of development, including a story about a vegetarian zombie, and a story about a forgotten angel."
2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?
"I try to stay away from stereotypes. Also, I have my experiences of losing my sight to draw upon for characters like Toby in my 'Toby's Tales' series. Plus, being blind means I see the world slightly differently from a lot of other authors."
3. Why do I write what I do?
"I write for children because I enjoy doing so, and because I've been told I do a better job of writing for children rather than adults. But as for the actual topics and plots... I write what I write for one reason only: those are the ideas in my head, so I go with what I'm inspired to write."
4. How does my writing process work?
"It's pretty simple: I get an idea, then I sit down and start writing. Once I'm done, I go through it again and tidy it up a bit; fixing what doesn't work, adding a little more description here and there, etc. I do this several more times until I'm happy with it, then start the editing process to look for typing and grammatical errors I missed."

The Inside Evil series, even though being dark and mysterious, was a way to escape the drudgery of every day life and indulge in something a little more fantastical. Meanwhile, CRYO offers the chance to dream of a future life. With a degree in Zoology, Wakeling is animal mad and has three cats, fish and five chickens in his London home. He is a keen gardener and conservationist. He is also still awaiting the arrival of his Hogwart's Owl!"
