Birthdays, and swimming in the ocean

Bethan, the daughter of a family friend, celebrated her 13th birthday on March 7th. My friend Anna celebrated her birthday on March 8th. AliceKay's grandson, Ryan, celebrated his birthday on March 10th. Yesterday (March 14th) my friends Lynn and Betsy celebrated their birthdays. And today (March 15th) my big brother, Wayne, celebrates his birthday.

So, a very happy - though in most cases late - birthday to all of them!

***

Usually things about Willow appear in her posts on Kelly's blog, but this time I decided I'd post about what happened on Sunday myself.

Sunday was a beautiful day, and Kelly had been having trouble persuading Willow to actually swim in the ocean. She loves to swim in the river, but nothing he could do would persuade her to do more than paddle in the ocean. He hadn't tried going in with her though, so I decided I'd try that. So, I dressed in shorts, t-shirt and sandals, and the four of us set off for the beach. Kero doesn't do water (especially not water that chases him) and Kelly wasn't eager to go in the water either, but I was happy to. With this in mind, when we got to the beach we swapped dogs, and Kelly stayed up the beach a bit with Kero, the camera, and my cane (I didn't think the salt water would do it any good; it's useless on the beach anyway... Too many stones, and nothing to follow to keep me going straight). Meanwhile, I took the plunge with Willow.

It might have been one of those beautiful days that whisper of the promises of the Summer, but apparently someone forgot to tell the ocean that, because it was FREEZING!

People were fishing a little way out, and people were laying about on the beach, but I'm pretty sure I was the only person daft enough to be playing in the water. LOL!

Anyway, while I was holding her head up so she didn't get splashed, and while I only expected her to walk about in deep water, Willow was fine. But as soon as I tried to get her to lift her paws to swim... Well, that was another matter. She got scared and tried to go back to shallower water. I tried until my legs were numb with cold, went out of the water to get feeling back in my legs, then tried again. She was having none of it. I would have kept trying (I was having fun, even if she wasn't) but we'd been there for about an hour, Kelly was getting bored, and Kero was rather upset about my eagerness to keep being in the wet stuff. And Kelly couldn't just take Kero home, because I can't do the walk to and from the beach by myself yet.

I know Willow had no issues with the water temperature. For one thing, she only minded if the water hit her in the face (she hates her head splashed) or if I tried to persuade her to lift her paws more than essential for walking while in the water. For another thing, I've known her to swim in half frozen rivers (which even I would think twice about being in). Which just leaves me with the theory that she hates the way it moves or something. I'm thinking the fact I had to let go of her head for her to be able to attempt to swim - thus removing the protection I was giving her from the splashing of the waves - may have also contributed to her reluctance to actually swim in the ocean. Like I said, she was happy to paddle, and she didn't mind going up to her neck with me (well, didn't mind it too much; at least, not as long as I kept hold of her head and shielded it from the waves), but there was no way that dog was swimming; I really tried!

Willow's World: the vet

Hi humans, this is Willow. The humans took us on a big walkies on Tuesday. Kero and I thought it was fun, but we also thought it was strange that they just went to a certain point then turned around and went home. Humans are strange creatures! Anyway then we went on the same walkies yesterday. Only this time we went in to a building that was about half an hour away along all the very busy roads. Kero started getting upset and pulling to get back out of there. I couldn't figure out why so I just laid down by the Kelly human's feet, getting up from time to time to see what was wrong with Kero or try and see people who came in; I also tried to eat a cat or two... Just for fun! After ages and ages we got up and went down a hallway. Part way down it a strange male human that I soon realized was a vet made me climb on to something called a "scale" for some reason that I couldn't figure out (it was fun though). Then we went in to a room where he pulled me about, poked at me, and talked lots and lots to the humans while Kero hid behind the Tori human trembling with fright. Then Kero and I had to sttand around getting bored while the humans sorted out someone called "Bill" (who I never did get to meet). And after that we walked home, stopping to sniff things like trees and people on the way. We were all tired and thirsty when we got back as it was a warm day! I have some wet stuff called "drops" to go in my ears twice a day for a week, and something called "cream" - which does not taste as good as the cream that comes in the squirty tins - for the sore patch on my leg to be put on me twice a day for a week too. I hope a week isn't long because I don't like either thing being done! I also have to have something called "cod liver oil capsules" every day. The vet human said I may have the beginnings of arthritis in my hips so told the humans to take me swimming "as often as possible" so I get to go to that big water I saw at least most days! I weighed 47 kilos, which means I lost 2 kilos since coming to live here if the humans remember my last weigh-in from my old vet properly. The vet is hoping I can lose an average of at least 1 kilo per month until I get down to the 30 kilos I should be for my size (or at least within a couple of kilos of it). I have to go back and get weighed once a month to make sure I'm on track with it (which I'm not too happy about as I was pleased to get out of there once I realized why Kero was so upset!) I also now have a microchip so that if I get lost the humans can get me back. Just thought you'd like to know. Lots of licks, Willow

Gym, diets, outings and more (LBE & FD)

Other than the stuff about my head, I don't seem to have done an update post lately. And I know there are a few things I neglected to mention before. Or, at least, I don't think I mentioned them. If I end up repeating a couple of things then I'm sorry. But I know some of you - like myself - enjoy reading about what your fellow blogger buddies get up to when they're not on the blogs. So, for those of you who are curious, here's a catch up post from my part of the planet. :)

Got your cuppa and snack ready? Excellent! Sitting comfortably? Fantastic! Then I'll begin, shall I? OK!

As mentioned in Kero's post yesterday, we've been doing a lot more since the start of Septtember. I hadn't done all that much - other than things like shopping and hospital trips - since before my operation last year, but we all agreed it was high time we put a stop to that. So, we held a sort of family conference, and we decided we were going to start doing more as a family, and going to some of the places we keep saying we'd like to go to, but never get around to going. On top of that, Kelly, Mam and I joined the local gym, and Kelly and Dad got their gaming club back up and running (for more on that, see Kelly's latest blog post). Now it's only really Sunday that neither of us goes anywhere. The rest of the week at least one of us goes somewhere.

Monday, Kelly goes to the gym with Mam in the morning, and I have a mobility lesson in the afternoon. Tuesday, I go to the gym with Mam in the morning, then we go shopping after we're done there. Wednesday, the three of us go to the gym in the morning, and Dad puppy sits. Thursday, we arrange some kind of family outing. Friday, Kelly goes to the gym in the morning, and has role playing. Saturday, Kelly goes to the gaming club at my parents' place.

Also, the "blind person social group" thing is on the third Wednesday afternoon of each month. I went to it for the first time this past Wednesday. They seem like a nice group of people. You can tell they're only just starting the group up yet, because there are still several things to work out. But the general idea of it is for a group of blind and partially sighted people who live locally - and any family or friends they want to bring along - to meet up, have a cuppa and a chat, and sometimes to go on outings together. They're also hoping to have people come in from places that may be of help to some of us. This week, forr example, they managed to get the people who run the "Talking news" service. Which is a sort of local newspaper, only they dropped the word "paper" because they didn't think it was appropriate since they provide the news on CD or cassette. Anyway, it seems like a nice group, so I'm planning to go again when they have their next meeting (October 21st, I think... Third Wednesday in October, anyway).

The gym trips are going quite well. My knee - the one I tore the tendons on a couple of months ago - is protesting a bit, but that doesn't surprise me. I'm sure it will get used to it. We haven't had proper sessions this week though, because Mam's not well, and I was semi-doped up on pain killers until Tuesday evening. But - now that my head is better - I'll be able to go back to nicely burning those calories. ;)

I did originally consider just buying gym equipment for use at home. But then I thought about it, and I changed my mind. For one thing, the trip to the gym gives me extra outings. For another thing, each piece of equipment would cost a couple of hundred pounds. Now, I pay about £30 ($60) per month to have unlimited use of all the machines, the other exercise equipment, and the pool. Plus free admission to any exercise or swimming classes I want to go to. And don't then have the problem of trying to find somewhere to put the equipment at home where I wont fall over it. So, on reflection, I decided I'd go to the gym.

The gym trips combined with the diet - for lack of a better word - I'm now on, have meant that I've lost about 4 lbs this month. And the month isn't even over! It's weight I really do need to get off too... Weight I put on between my first and last ops last year. I'm now only a couple of lbs off weighing what I did when I went in for the first of the ops, so that's a good start. Once I get down to what I was when I went in for that first op, I can see about getting down to what I was at before my sight actually went (which means losing about 14 lbs more than I've lost so far). After that I can see about getting off the weight I was trying to get off before all this happened.

As regards the "diet" I mentioned...

At the start of this year, Kelly and I agreed to exchange microwave meals and take-away meals for proper homemade dinners. We also agreed to cut back on snack foods and fizzy drinks. For the most part this went well, but we did end up using the chipper a bit too often. Because of this, the chipper is soon going to a new home. The only problem we had with the homemade meal thing was my "meat issue" as we called it at first.

You see, ever since I learned where meat came from, I've had periods where I've had "meat issues" and either refused to - or been unable to - eat meat that was given to me. I never seemed to have issues with the processed meats, but give me a piece of "proper meat" as my Mam calls it, and at least half of it will end up in the dog. So, I decided not to bother dishing up the meat for myself, and - after a couple of months of this - decided I might as well make it official. So, I've been officially saying I'm a vegetarian since about May or June. And, funnily enough, I've actually been eating more of a variety of things since I stopped eating meat (or anything containing animal products). It does make food shopping take longer, because we need to check labels on things that may or may not contain animal products. Some yoghurts, for example, contain animal fats to thicken them. I did try the soy based alternatives, but they are disgusting. So, I just get someone to check the labels, and if it's not "suitable" then I don't have it. I haven't been as ill since I started eating a vegetarian diet. I'vve had the odd bit of a cough and bit of the sniffles, but nothing like I had been having. I think it's because I'm eating healthier. Also, I'm not eating as many "treats" as I was. And sweets and chocolates are now actually treats instead of daily snacks.

We've also agreed to introduce "portion control" again. I had started using this before, and it does work. Basically, we have smaller meals with healthy snacks in between if needed. We're finding we don't really need those though, so we usually have one of the items meant for snacks as a supper. I, for example, usually havve some cereal or toast for breakfast, a sandwich or wrap of some sort for lunch, some kind of veggie meal for dinner - perhaps a salad, some soup, or a pasta dish - and a bit of fruit and a small yoghurt for supper if I find I'm hungry enough to want a supper, which I'm often not.

In Kelly's case it's basically portion control and eating healthier meals rather than fried things. He had this nasty habbit of only wanting fried chicken, sausage and chips/fries, pizza, or cheese burgers. Now he's eating proper meals like chicken with potatoes and vegetables, chicken and rice, and that kind of thing. He's not as willing as me to try new fruits and vegetables - or new vegetable dishes - though. But he'll eat broccoli, carrots, peas and corn OK, and a few others too. And at least he's now having homemade healthier meals rather than take-aways, microwave meals, and other meals that are processed or full of fat.

Plus, we're both drinking fruit juices and flavoured water most of the time. Well, when we're not drinking tea or coffee (tea in my case, coffee in Kelly's case). We take lemon water with us when we go to the gym, and keep a supply of it at home. And I even had plain water rather than a bottle of Cola or Fanta the other day. Which - for those who don't know what I'm like - is a big deal, because I don't like plain water. Why? Because it has no flavour to it. That's why I tend to go for flavoured water, ffruit juice, or tea... With the occasional fizzy drink thrown in as a treat. And a milkshake or smoothie if I decide I want one (which I don't very often, to be honest).

Staying on the subject of food for a moment...

Because of our attempts at eating healthier, we've agreed to take packed lunches with us on our outings rather than actually eating out. We figure that way itt will be cheaper, and also easier to avoid eating the foods we don't want to be (like pizza, chips/fries, etc). So, I got us all special lunch bags with matching drinks bottles. This is my one:

Mine is kitten themed, Kelly's is a Top Gear one, Dad has Star Wars, and Mam has Hannah Montannah (I think that's how you spell that).

This week was our first "proper" outing. Two weeks ago we went to Swansea for the day, and all broughtt ourselves a little something (that was the day I got my "Torak" book). And we've all agreed to just spend some time together in one or the other of our houses on the week where we tend to be short on money (which was last week) so we spent last Thursday playing Scattergories then looking through leaflets we'd picked up to look for more options on places to go. But this past Thursday we had a lovely day out. We went to Pendine - which I'll be telling you more about in coming days (complete with photos) - and we went to "Pemberton's Chocolate Farm" before coming home.

Most of the day was very enjoyable, but we were disappointed by the chocolate farm. The only thing they offer - other than a shop full of sweets - is a factory tour. This is fine, but we'd just missed the 3:00 pm tour, and they said, "the last tour is at 3:00 pm, but if you want to hang around until after 4:00 pm and see if anyone else shows up we will do another tour." Which made no sense, because if the last tour is at 3:00 pm, why does it matter if more people show up? There's either another tour just after 4:00 pm, or there isn't. Anyway, we decided not to bother waiting around when it was only a "maybe" so we got a couple of things from the shop and left. We wont be bothering to go back. And - had we realised we'd only be going there to buy a couple of treats - we would have stayed at Pendine for a while longer, then just gone home. Still, it's a place to cross off the "places we'd like to visit" list.

The photos from Pendine will be posted throughout the coming week. Iggy very kindly sorted them and labeled them for me yesterday... Thank you, Iggy! *Hugs*... So it's just a matter of me sorting the posts and adding the photos.

We do have a tidy sized list of places we want to go. They include theme parks, nature walks, cave explorations, boat rides for nature observation, places we can go to do crafts together, and a few other things. Also, Mam and I are hoping to go and see movies together from time to time. Plus, we would like to find some places to take Kero and Willow. That way they get nice outings too. :)

When I'm not out somewhere - be it on an outing, at the gym, walking Kero, or whatever - and I don't have blog posts I want to catch up on, I'm generally working on craft projects. I'll post about the craft projects nearer the end of the month though. It's already September 19th, so you only have about a week and a half before September ends anyway, and since I've taken to doing monthly craft updates near the end of the month, I'm sure you can wait that little bit. ;)

Let's see, what else? Oh yes!

We've been having beautiful weather! There has been the odd short rain shower, but for the most part the last couple of weeks have been lovely. Beautiful and sunny, and nice and warm. But not actually hot. The kinds of days where it's warm enough for Summer clothing, but still cool enough so you feel like doing things and can enjoy your day. Basically, the kinds of days that often show up in September here. Give a couple more weeks (if that) and I bet the rain and storms will be back though. They don't tend to stay away long in Wales! ;)

I've not really been playing my Valhalla game, because I've been so busy with outings, household chores, blogs, walks with Kero, and crafts, that I just havven't had the time for it. Well, there have been a few times I could have played. But I tend to choose crafts and making my walks with Kero last a bit longer instead. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the game, but I think it's better to be outside in the fresh air - especially while we have this nice weather - or doing something productive, like making Christmas presents, or the items for that handmade giveaway thing.

Besides, while I work on the crafts and do the household chores I listen to audiobooks. I'm now a little over half way through the third one of the books I got from the library about a week and a half ago, and I have a couple of others to listen to that actually belong to me. Plus, I should be getting that potato peel pie book from the library at the end of the month, and will probably pick up a couple of other books while I'm there getting that one, and giving back the ones I got last time.

Kelly brought me "Moby Dick" by Herman Melville (I think I spelled his name right) because I've never actually gotten around to reading it. I know, I know! But I will this time!

Also, a very good friend sent me a package containing a couple of audiobooks. I'm afraid I don't remember their titles and authors right now - and they haven't been labelled yet, so I can't check them - but they sound interesting, and I look forward to giving them a listen. Thank you, Iggy! *Hugs*

Right, well, I think that covers everything for now. Like I said, I've got some posts with photos in them from Thursday, which I'll post soon. And I should have some book reviews for you again soon. This does appear to be about it for now though. ;)

Oh, before I close this though... For anyone wondering...

My head is basically back to normal. Well, normal for me, I mean. ;)

Enjoy your day! :)

A tribute to rain

When in Wales, always prepare for rain, because the chances are that's what you'll end up getting. Yes, we do have periods of sunny days, but they don't usually last long, and it's only a matter of time before the rain is back. But, you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way.

Don't get me wrong, I do love the sunny, warm days. But I'm one of those strange people who isn't really bothered by rain. I still go for walks in the rain. I still go swimming in the rain (or, I used to when we lived near an outdoor swimming pool). And I still try to take photos of birds in the rain. OK, so I was just inside the back door taking the photos, but that was for the camera's sake, not mine.

I didn't have any luck getting photos of the birds - despite the fact I know they were out there, because I could hear them - but I did get these photos, which Iggy (who has very kindly been helping me sort out photos for my blog posts... Thanks Iggy) thought looked pretty good.

I admit it, I do sometimes complain about the rain. But everyone complains about the weather if we've had the same kind of weather for a long time. It's what people do. But rain isn't all bad. If nothing else, it waters the flowers for you.

These flowers seem to love the rain... We've never needed to do anything to them in the whole 15 months or so we've lived here. The rain waters them, and they basically take care of themselves.

And, for those who prefer not to be out in the rain, there is always the benifit of some time indoors to do those things around the house you've been meaning to do, but didn't do because you didn't want to waste the beautiful, sunny, warm days you've been having.

And, don't forget... Rain is water, and without water none of us could survive.

So, the next time it's raining, don't let the grey sky get you down... Beauty can even be found in among the rain drops. You just have to look a bit harder for it.

50 things I've done

Kati did a "100 things" game on her blog a few days back. I wanted to play too, but after reading the list I realised I'd end up saying "no" to most of them. So I've turned it in to a "50 things I've done" game instead. I used the things I would have said "yes" to from the list to start me off, and just added more things I've done to it in place of the things I haven't done.

1. Started my own blog (in case you didn't notice, lol)
2. Been camping (LOADS of times)
3. Played in a band (I played recorder and cornet in bands when I was a kid... I wasn't all that good though... Plus, my brother, a couple of friends and I had a band where I was a back-up singer)
4. Had a pillow fight (who hasn't?)
5. Held a lamb (I've bottle fed one too)
6. Seen a total eclipse of the Sun
7. Watched a sunrise or sunset
8. Taught myself a new language (it's just a shame that most words didn't stick)
9. Gone rock climbing (and absailing)
10. Sung karaoke
11. Walked on a beach by moonlight
12. Been transported in an ambulance (way too many times, thanks)
13. Played in the mud (who hasn't?)
14. Taken a martial arts class (it was Judo)
15. Saved a favourite childhood toy (well, sort of... He's safely in the attic at my parents' place)
16. Seen the changing of the guards in London
17. Had my picture in the newspaper
18. Had chicken pocks
19. Met someone famous (a couple of people, actually... But I was too young to remember properly)
20. Owned a cell phone (owned several at different times)
21. Been stung by a bee (and by a wasp)
22. Read an entire book in one day (on more than one occasion)
23. Picked blackberries
24. Got a tattoo that carries more meaning to my life than simply "it's cool." (this applies to both my tattoos)
25. Visited Cyprus (twice, in fact)
26. Recited poetry in front of a crowd (on at least three occasions)
27. Ridden a horse (I have a 3rd place rosette from the only compatition I ever entered)
28. Ridden an elephant
29. Ridden a camel
30. Gone barefoot in the snow
31. Made a daisy chain
32. Milked a cow
33. Bottle fed a goat
34. Visited Canada (and lived there for a few months)
35. Grown a plant or flower from a seed
36. Helped out at a retirement home (did this a few times while in Girl Guides)
37. Learned first aid (was taught by a member of The Red Cross while in Girl Guides)
38. Baked "cookies" for charity (for Childline, to be exact)
39. Stayed up all night to raise money for charity (we did a couple of sponsored stay awakes when I was in Girl Guides, and I went to all the ones they did while I was still in Guides)
40. Used chopsticks (I can use them, but not very well)
41. Gone swimming in a thunder storm (in an outside pool)
42. Been fishing (but we never ate the fish... They had to put it back, because I got too upset when I realised we were intending eating the fish we caught that day. We ended up having from the chippy instead)
43. Been on TV (OK, it was just clips of me wandering about when they were filming the opening of the place I did my classes at - and I was at the opening - but I was still on the TV)
44. Played on a local sports team (only the school's netball team, but still...)
45. Learned to dance (I did some ballet when I was younger... Probably couldn't do even half of it now though)
46. Built a computer from scratch (OK, I just helped my Dad, but he says I built it too, so I'm putting this one down on my list... So there!
47. Been to France via the channel tunnel (only to the duty free shops not far from where you get off the train, but I've still been... On at least two or three occasions)
48. Had some of my work published (I've had a couple of poems published through "The International Library Of Poetry"... One day I'm hoping to have my work published properly though)
49. Listened to a real harpest play (it's a very soothing experience, which I highly recommend)
50. Knitted a blanket from scratch (I've knitted a few baby blankets, and knitted squares to make a couple of those patchwork knitted blankets as well)

So... What have you done?

Stairs & Scenery

I posted this pic for Kerry to see. This is Kero at about 4 & 1/2 months old about to make his first attempt at the stairs. I never got to take a pic of him on going down the stairs though, because just after I snapped this he fell and after that wouldn't try again for quite some time (as I told you on your blog). Anyway, just thought I'd share the photo with you.

Right, back to today...

I went to the gym today. Haven't been in about a week for one reason or another, so, it was about time I got to the gym. Didn't go swimming though, because we're not doing much swimming at the moment since the pool that we use has a 'free swim for kids' thing on every day until school starts back in September and everyone seems to be taking advantage of it and the pool is always so packed with kids that you can't swim more than a few inches without having to stop.

Went out with my Mam and Dad to take some scenery photos this evening. It was a nice little outing. A bit cold though. I did get some decent pics though. They're in my photo album if you want to look.

Updates

When I fell asleep on Friday night the TV was on since I was watching CSI - as I've already mentioned - and some medical show was on. Anyway, I don't know what it was called and wasn't really watching it since I was trying to go back to sleep, but one conversation between an elderly man and one of the nurses caught my attention and tickled my funny bone. So, I thought I'd tell you about it. The conversation went something like this:

Nurse: "You don't look 96, more like 66"
Man: "Thank you!"
Nurse: "So, how do you manage to live to be 96?"
Man: "Well, that's easy. I just kept breathing. I've found it works really well."

LOL!

Anyway, back to this week...

I got weighed again yesterday (Monday) and I lost another pound. Only the one this week, but I'm not surprised really since Jo made me a full roast dinner on Sunday and I had sausages with Daniel on Saturday. But, at least I lost something, right?

Took Shireen swimming with my Mam yesterday. And let me tell you we wont be taking her again in a hurry. She's a good kid and all that. But, it's a lot of money to spend just for her to stand by the side of the pool playing with the floats and refusing to do anything else. I understand if she can't swim and all that. I mean, she is only seven years old. But, she's not interested in learning and since the whole idea of us taking her was to teach her to swim then it's a waste of time and money when she refuses to so much as entertain the idea. Shame though.

Anyway, that'll have to do for now.

Kero and I are back

Kero and I got home just before 8:00 pm last night and went pretty much straight to bed. We were very tired. Not so much because we'd had a busy weekend but because for various reasons we barely got any sleep.

Thursday, we got to Jo's house about 7:00 pm, had dinner and all that and somehow ended up not getting to bed until about 1:00 am. Then we had to get up just after 6:00 am because Jo had to get up to catch the train and Kero has been taught to get me up when an alarm goes off so he got me up. Then Friday I fell asleep half way through the second episode of CSI (so around 11:30 pm) but for some reason woke up at 5:00 am and couldn't get back to sleep. So, I got up, got dressed and fed and walked the dogs. Then Saturday night Jo came home around 7:00 pm but we ended up not getting to bed until about 1:30 am and Natalie (Jo's daughter) had for some reason set the alarm on her phone for 5:00 am and though it didn't wake her up it woke me and Kero up and that was me up for the day then. So, needless to say, by the time Kero and I got home last night I practically fell in to my bed.

The kids and dogs were as good as gold for me though. But then, they usually are. Daniel (the eldest boy) walked the dogs sometimes for me, cleaned up the mess every time Mutley (the tiny puppy) had an accident and even helped me make dinner. Tony (the next kid down) was hardly home, as usual, but when he was I never heard a peep out of him. Natalie (the only girl) was only there from Saturday when Jo came home since Jo had picked her up. But, when Jo went to visit with a neighbor and then when she went to take Patch (the Jack Russell) to her new home I had Natty with me and never had a bit of trouble from her. And Owain (the youngest of them all) was as good as gold the whole time he was with me and was over the moon to see Kero again. Kero got on great with Bella (who's my Grandma's dog, Jayde's mother), Patch and Mutley and found a girlfriend (Patches' mother, Milly). And Kero let the kids all pull him about and play with him. Not just Jo's kids, but their friends too. Everyone loved him to bits. I think he's glad to be home though.

When I get the time to get them put on the PC, I've got photos to show you. But, I haven't had a chance to sort them out since the only reason I'm on posting right now is because where I fell asleep so early I'm up earlier than planned for the gym and swimming.

Anyway, that'll do for now.

Another hot day (again)

I weighed today and I've lost another 3 lbs, which I'm glad about. Can't wait to loose all of the weight I need off though.

I got a baby gate today to put at the back door so I can leave it open without Kero going out because with how hot it keeps being we need the door open, but with the kids being home for the Summer holidays now I can't let Kero be outside all the time because some of them tease him and then he barks at them and I don't think it's fair that he's getting yelled at for barking when it's not really his fault. I mean, Kero loves kids, but that's half the problem. See, the kids are running and riding back and forth past the fence and Kero wants to run and play with them but he can't so he's barking at them to "wait" or "come play" or something but because at least half of the other neighbours don't realise (or don't care) that all he wants to do is play, he barks and they complain about it. Anyway, I've put a gate up on the back door in such a way that I don't have to remove it to shut the door. I think Kero likes it because it means we have the door open all day while we're home and he's just loving laying by the gate and watching over 'his' garden.

I think that'll do for now because I'm tired and I've got a headache as I banged my head on the door frame of the car door earlier (don't ask). So, I'm going to go make sure I've got everything ready for the gym and swimming tomorrow and then I think I'll see about bed.

Update For Saturday July 15th 2006

I haven't blogged for a few days because we've had some more beautiful weather and I have been spending a lot of time outside with the dogs just walking about while they enjoyed a little bit of freedom.

Kero and Jayde both stayed home by themselves for a whole 25 minutes last night while I waited for the bus with my Mam. It wasn't meant to be that long, but the bus was late. Either way, they were very good and when I got back were laying in the middle of the living room quietly (I snuck around the back quietly to peek in through the glass on the back door so I could see what they were up to). Then they really made me laugh, because I touched the door handle and they both shot to their feet and practically climbed up the door to get to me. Bless 'em.
As you can see, I've managed to get a few nice photos of Kero, Chance and Jayde over the last few days
Anyway, Jayde left this morning to go back to my Grandma. I bet both Jayde and my Grandma are really happy to be reunited after all these weeks. I know Jayde got really excited when I told her she was going home to her Mummy. Bless her. And I think my Grandma is just as excited about seeing Jayde again.

By the way, Kian the fish is still alive and swimming about ok and all that.

My induction day for the gym is this Tuesday coming. I have to be there for 3:00 pm. After Tuesday I can go pretty much whenever I want to. Also, it means that I no longer have to pay for each swimming session because it is included in the monthly fee for membership of the gym. In the long run it'll really save me some money.

Swimming & Stuff

I've been doing some swimming in the mornings this week. It's meant to be every day this week but I didn't go this morning because where I had a nap in the afternoon I ended up not sleeping at all last night and then, of course, just before the alarm went off I started to drift off. So, I was just too tired too face swimming this morning. I went Monday and Tuesday though. On Monday I swam 18 lengths and on Tuesday I did 20. I think 20 will be my limit for a while though since after the 18 I still felt up for more, but I was glad when the 20th was over. lol!

Hopefully next week I'll be starting to go to the gym as well as going swimming. Just got to get our forms in to join the gym then arrange for our induction day and all that. So, it depends how long we have to wait for that to get sorted to when we go to the gym and since I'm not sure how it all works then I don't know how long it'll take.

I don't think that my Mam is too happy that I didn't go swimming with her today, but there's nothing I can do about that. I didn't think it would be wise to swim when I was so tired. Mam says the water would have woken me up a bit, and yeah, it probably would have woken me up. But, it wasn't waking up that was the problem, it was the fact that I'm not a confident swimmer as it is and I was worried I'd get too tired and swim even worse than I do. I mean, I was terrified of water until a little over 18 months ago and I'm still a bit nervous of it, so, the last thing I need is to be really tired and feel like I can't swim any more when I'm up the deep end or something.

By the way, I didn't loose any weight this past week, but I'm not surprised really because even though I was moving furniture about and went to the park on Saturday and all that, I spent most of my week not doing much. Hopefully with the swimming this week we'll see some weight loss again though. Of course, I wont know until Tuesday though, because I can't get weighed until then.

Well, I've not finished sorting all my stuff out, but I'm getting there. And, we got the bedroom changed around on Monday too. Still got a few bits to sort in there as well, but I can't sort the stuff in there out properly until I get our other book shelves, because right now there are books all over the place. I'm getting there though. Honest!

I think that's everything for now.
