Kero's being very good about taking his pills. I think he must be as eager as we are to make the scratching stop. He's not scratching much at all now, but I wouldn't be surprised if he starts back up once the pills are done. I mean, skin irritation in Westies is common, and Kero's done well to last this long without problems, so I'm expecting him to keep having problems now that something's triggered them. Hopefully when Serena can get some of that Billy goat soap to us I can keep it under control without pills though.

We often give the degus and gerbils empty cardboard tubes to chew up. One of the degus decided to put the one we gave them the other day in their nesting box; not unusual in itself, as they usually use them as nesting materials. When he tried to pull it in after him, it wasn't working. So he threw it out, then went after it. Then he tried pushing it in, but he had it at an awkward angle, so again it didn't work. Again he threw it in frustration before going to fetch it. His third attempt was more successful, and he managed to push it in the nesting box, still whole, looking pretty pleased with himself as he arranged it (and the other cardboard and paper pieces) so that they and the hay they have in the nesting box were to his liking.
***
When Kelly was feeding the gerbils the other day, Bilbo decided to jump in the bowl for a ride. Until, that is, it got a certain distance from the floor of the cage. All of a sudden he decided the ride wasn't so fun and he wanted out. Luckily, since Kelly only continued to lift the bowl because of Bilbo's apparent eagerness to have a ride, Kelly was watching him closely enough to lower the bowl for him to get out rather than little Bilbo having to jump from the bowl from a height.
***
Normally I feed the degus and Kelly feeds the gerbils, but the other day we were late up, so I fed both sets of rodents. Well, eventually. You see, Bilbo has a thing for nipping at me; he's not biting nastily, and it doesn't hurt, so I think it could be an affection thing, but he does it every time my hands are in reach. So, I came in to the living room with the bowl of gerbil breakfast in my hand, then put my hand on the top of the cage, intending to use it to help with distance so I could find the door on the top of the cage more easily. Unfortunately, not only did I put the hand with the bowl there, but I just happened to put my hand right near where Bilbo was. He nipped at my wrist, making me jump so violently that I ended up throwing the contents of the bowl over my shoulder. Oatmeal and gerbil mix went everywhere! Kelly said the horrified look on Bilbo's face when the food went everywhere was priceless. As for me? It took me ages to stop laughing enough to go and fill the bowl again and give the boys their breakfast, and I still keep giggling when I think about it. I still don't know why I jumped so violently though; it's not like Bilbo nipping at my hand is unusual, and it's never made me jump like that when one of the boys - degus and gerbils both - have grabbed at my hand in some shape or form. I feel kind of foolish having jumped so violently from something so tiny, to be honest... It was funny though! And, when I went to feed the gerbils along with the degus yesterday, Bilbo clung to the bowl with his front paws when I went to try and pick it up as if trying to stop me taking it... Maybe he was worried I'd waste his food again? LOL!
***
Jacob was half asleep when we were giving the degus some pasta the other day. We waved the piece of pasta in front of his face for almost a minute before the confused look on his face vanished and he snatched it. Up until that point he'd been staring straight ahead in confusion, clearly not awake enough to know what was going on. If it hadn't been a one-off incident, we'd have been concerned. It also helps us that we know he'd just come out of the nesting box; probably wondering why his brothers had left him, since they'd all been asleep in the nesting box not long before.
***
We got new gnawing blocks for the degus and gerbils earlier in the week. The degus are, of course, enjoying theirs but fighting over it (they fight over everything). The gerbils share better though, plus Bilbo doesn't know what to make of it. Baggins thinks it's great though, and can often be found sat on top of it licking it and nibbling at it.

Medical Mutterings and Postman Prat
My other dentist appointment (on March 15th) wasn't as bad as the other one.
Where the tooth wasn't as far back I didn't end up with my mouth all cut up, so I wasn't in as much pain when the injection wore off. Although, there was some pain, but it was in the "I can ignore this" range, so I just pretended it didn't exist, and it got the message and went away after a couple of days.
There was a fair bit of pain at first when she was sorting my tooth; the area wasn't numb enough when she started drilling. She'd told me to raise my hand if I felt pain, and I did so so sharply I actually pulled her hand - drill and all, luckily - out of my mouth (though I'm not sure if I meant to do so or not).
And what did she say?
"Oh, did that hurt?"
Well, duh! *Rolling eyes*
Never mind, it's over with now until September (unless something bugs me enough so I decide I can't ignore it, and am forced to make an appointment in the meantime).

I hurt my wrist the other day, and feel like an idiot for how I did it.
You know how when you know something will hurt, you don't want to do it to yourself as a rule? Like when you need to pull off a plaster, or put something on a cut that you know will sting it. Well, I was doing the second one, and in trying to fight the urge to pull my hand away, I twisted my wrist funny or something, and actually hurt my wrist doing so. I'm not entirely sure how it happened. I just know I was fighting the urge to pull my hand away, and then there was a sharp pain in my wrist.
It wasn't so much the pain that bugged me - though it definitely wasn't comfortable; I think I lightly sprained it or something. It was more the fact it happened; I hurt my wrist trying to fight the urge to pull my hand away when I was putting something on a sore that I knew was going to sting it. So, in trying not to hurt myself, I hurt myself worse than I would have done otherwise.
Go ahead and laugh; I did!
It's mostly OK now; I've been doing some energy work on it, and as long as I don't lift anything heavy with that hand, or put my full weight on it to push myself up if I'm on the floor, then it's fine now. I still can't believe how it happened though...

We have 4 post people (not counting the "special delivery" people). And I'm not trying to be politically correct there, it's just that 3 are postmen, the other is a woman.
Anyway, I like three of them. The woman is lovely; she's always got a smile for everyone and a cheerful "hello"... Regardless of the time of day or weather. Two of the men are great too; not as cheerful as the woman, but nice enough. Those three are helpful with me too; making sure I have the mail in my hand properly, helping me get the dogs in if they slip out, etc. Life would be perfect if it was just those three.
But it isn't.
The fourth postman I've nicknamed "Postman Prat" because he is a total prat. He shoves things through the letterbox even when they aren't going to fit; bending things sometimes in the process (he hasn't done any real damage to anything, but it's still annoying; especially since some of my items have braille on them). He waves things about at me getting annoyed because I'm failing to grab hold of them, etc. And he's afraid of dogs. Now, don't get me wrong, I have no issues with people being afraid of dogs; I'm a bit nervous of large dogs myself (yes, even Willow). But my issue is the way he acts about it. He jumps about screaming "get the mutt away," and "call off the stupid animal," and "help, they're both getting me," and so on. I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't for the fact that half the time the dogs aren't near him. I know this for a fact, because he manages to get out of the gate, and anyone who knows my Kero can tell you that if you open the gate you're not getting out of it without him unless you have a head start, and even then you better move quickly or you're not going to make it. Also, when Willow is behind me still inside, there's no way they can both be getting him when he's a couple of feet in front of me by the gate. She's big, but not that big; just saying! Plus, though I can't prove it, I'm pretty sure he kicked Kero at one point.
But, I decided to play along and got a babygate to put in the entrance to the porch area, thus stopping the dogs getting near the door unless I allow them through said gate. The first gate didn't work out. We got one that screws to the wall, thinking it would be stronger (also, they give you a wider gap to walk through), but we couldn't get the screws to hold; we tried long ones, short ones, wall plugs, no wall plugs... It wasn't having it. So we filled in the holes and got a pressure fit one instead. We had to get an extension for it, and could do with another; it only just fits, and it would be stronger with another proper extension so the bits you twist don't have to be fully extended... The gate tends to be weaker when those bits are fully extended. But for now it's there at least. So, let's see if Postman Prat becomes less of one once he realizes the dogs can't get at him.
If not, I'll be calling to complain about him, because I'm losing my patience with his attitude. He knows I can't see, and it feels as though he delights in taunting me.

The car that wouldn't go (AED)
Mam: "Something's wrong with my car!"
Me: "What do you mean?"
Mam: "It wont go forward... Or backwards!"
Me: "Did you try starting it?"
She started the engine, and the car worked.
At least she had the decency to be embarrassed about it... LOL!

Stupidity and shoes
I was going to post something else today, but I ended up going offline before I had a chance to do the post, and then my laptop was refusing to even accept the existance of an internet connection, let alone connect to any. To cut a long story short, we eventually discovered that I'd caught the little switch on the side of the laptop that stops it being able to locate and connect to internet connections, so as far as the laptop was concerned, I was telling it not to bother looking for a connection. So it's only now I'm finally able to get back on my blog and do a post of any sort. Yeah, I feel daft... I mean, it's not the first time I've done that, so you'd think I'd have had the sense to check. I guess not. LOL! Anyway, I can't be bothered to do the other post right now though, so all you get is this. Well, and this photo:

Yes, those are my new shoes.

Furkid Friday: daft dog (FD)
Hi there humans, it's Gwydion here again.
Well, I heard the funniest thing on Sunday. Kero doesn't get what's so funny, but I find it highly amusing. You wouldn't find me doing something that daft (at least, I hope you wouldn't). Kero was on the sofa looking out the window, Mami was on her laptop, and Mamgu was borrowing Dadi's computer. Suddnly, Kero started barking. Mamgu went to the window to see what was wrong, only to realise that he was looking right at her car - parked outside - and barking excitedly, like he does when Mamgu shows up (especially if she takes Mami with her). Anyway, Mamgu tapped Kero and said, "hey, I'm here," and he stopped barking, and looked at her as if to say, "WOW! How did you get in here so quick? I never even saw you get out of your car, let alone heard you come in the door!" I know about this because the humans were still laughing about it a little while later when they came out the back where my cage is (when it was time for Mamgu's next smoke break).
And, if that wasn't enough of a laugh for me, Tuesday evening I had another laugh at poor Kero's expense. I was happily eating my veggies while listening to a goose in the distance (I'm used to hearing animal noises from not too far away, so I ignore them) when the humans brought Kero outside. I did consider going to hide in my bed area - which is what I often do when people come anywhere near my cage - but I recognized Mami (AKA "food lady") so stuck around in case she was bringing me something. She wasn't (shame), but I'm still glad I stuck around or I wouldn't have seen what happened next. The goose said, "honk," again, and Kero raced indoors with tail tucked very tightly between his legs. From what I heard, he ran right through the kitchen, right down the hallway, all the way in to the living room, where he then hid under Dadi's computer desk. It took two hours to persuade him it was safe for him to go out (and even then he wasn't sure). And it took two days before he stopped running indoors to hide whenever he was outside and anyone said, "honk," or "goose," which I found highly amusing to watch!
Daft dog!
And here he is sat on the sofa looking around as if he doesn't know it's him we're calling daft. But we all know it is him, and we all know he knows it too!

As for the rest of the week... Not much happened. I had the most juicy carrot I've seen in my life (brought for me by Mamgu, I'm told) which I absolutely loved. And Kero had some kind of dog treat, which he seemed pleased to have (Mamgu brought that too). I hear he also managed to trick the humans in to giving him the other one from the packet, which was meant to have been sent to Willow. See... That dog's not entirely daft! Poor Willow though... I guess the humans will have to make it up to her by getting her another treat... An extra special one! Oh, and I tried sprouts for the first time, and absolutely loved them! That's about it though.
Squeak soon,

Folly Farm: Part 6 - Donkeys & gift shops
It seems we did have a photo of the donkeys after all. So, meet Dillis the donkey, and her son, Donald the donkey. I'm told the photo is kind of blurry... Sorry about that. But, at least there is a donkey photo. :)
That photo is the reason I've made a sixth post about our trip to Folly Farm. I didn't want to put Dillis and Donald in the post I did yesterday about the fair, they didn't belong in the goat post, and the photo was only discovered after Wednesday's post had already been published. Yes, I could have gone in and added their photo, and then edited the bit of text about them. But I couldn't be bothered to fiddle (partly because it's so easy to lose bits of posts when you do that). So I decided to just do a sixth post, and post Dillis and Donald the donkeys in with the information about the very last place we visited before leaving Folly Farm... The gift shop.
We stopped at the gift shop on the way out. We both ended up getting teddies, since the t-shirts were only child sized, and most of what they had was teddies, stationary, or some little rather well detailed plastic animals, which - after my comment with the first one I picked up - Mam decided we weren't going to investigate any more. LOL! But I couldn't help it. I've never seen a little plastic horse with... Erm... Enough detail to tell it's meant to be male. So I commented on it. Not my fault Mam (and probably some other people in the shop) found this embarrassing. I was just pointing out that it was obvious it was male, and Mam asked how I knew, so I told her, and showed her. Is it my fault she didn't like my response? ;)
Anyway, this is what I ended up getting...
So, that was our trip to Folly Farm. It was a fun trip!
Tori
P.S. If you haven't already seen it, Mam did a post yesterday (Saturday) with the photos in it that I managed to get of her in the indoor funfair. So, if you haven't seen it you might want to go look.

Nothing all that interesting
Sorry, but I don't really have anything all that interesting to post about today.
It's just taken me most of the evening to get online. I thought the internet was playing up - like it often does - but thought it odd that it was working for Kelly and not for me. Eventually we figured out that I'd tugged the wire loose when plugging the laptop in when the battery died earlier. Oops! So I spent a few hours being annoyed at my lack of internet access for nothing... LOL! Thing is, Kelly said it was playing up a bit earlier, so I figured it was just still doing that. If he hadn't noticed it playing up earlier then I'd have checked the wire sooner. Actually, with how often I do this you'd think I'd have learned by now to check the wire straight away, which is the first thing Dad always told me I should do if the internet isn't working. Apparently I haven't managed to make that lesson stick in my mind though. ;)
We had a HUGE storm yesterday (Monday) morning. I was just about to come and check blog posts - since I hadn't bothered coming online on Sunday - when... BOOM! There was a huge thunder clap. I decided to forget the idea of going online, and went and sat on the sofa to listen to the storm. It went on for most of the morning, and by lunch time it was over and the weather was clearing up. The afternoon turned out not too bad weatherwise, which I'm quite pleased about, because I had to be outside part of the afternoon.
I'm not actually surprised that it rained almost the entire weekend (we just had a few dry patches here and there). Why? Because Kelly had planned to mow the lawn if it was dry. I think there's an unwritten law somewhere that states, "if you make plans in advance that rely on a spacific type of weather, then you will get the opposite type of weather." And, besides, we'd had about a week (or was it more? I forget) of lovely weather. We can't expect that to last, can we? After all, this is Wales... The land of daffodils, dragons, leeks, mountains, music, poetry, and rain. LOL!
Only one more week until the new Potter movie... YAY! :)

The Beach (LBE & FD)
On Wednesdays Mam and Dad used to come and see us for the afternoon, and we'd putter about at home between lunch time and dinner time. But Mam and I decided we wanted to do something more exciting. So, Mam and I have been going on outings together on Wednesdays instead.
The first week we went to Swansea, and we had lunch in a pub style resteraunt we both like. The place is called "Eli's" and is fantastic. I think I might have mentioned it on here before... It was some time ago though, so many of you would have missed me mentioning it. Anyway, it's one of our favourite places to eat, but we hadn't been there in a while.
The following week we just went and ran some errands, and we had lunch in the cafe at Asda. That was nice too. Not a whole lot of meat free choices, but still nice. And reasonably priced too.
But last Wednesday we went to the beach.

We figured that - since we'd been having some great weather - we'd pack a picnic and go off to the beach. Of course, the weather ended up being not as warm as it had been. In fact, it was a bit chilly, and there was rain threatening all the time. But... *Shrugs*... Hey, we were getting wet in the sea anyway. Besides, we planned a trip to the beach, and damn it, we were going to the beach! ;)

As you can see, the chilly wind didn't stop us playing in the sea. I insisted that you couldn't go to the beach without at least paddling a bit in the sea. So what if it was freezing cold... It's traditional to go for at least a quick paddle in the sea when you go to the beach. And, it wasn't too bad when we weren't standing still.

Besides, since we went on such a dull sort of day it meant there weren't really many others there, which meant I was free to run about and enjoy myself properly (see, I can run when I want to... I just don't usually want to. LOL!) I don't get to run about much, because it's not usually safe. But an almost deserted beach is the perfect place to run freely.

Mam figured out quite quickly that messing about instead of standing still stops you noticing the coldness of the water so much. That's her excuse for acting like an idiot while waiting for me to snap this photo anyway. Yeah, we all believe her... Of course we do. ;)

Oh no! The waves are trying to get my Mami... Run Mami, run!
Wayne came to the beach with us, but he said there was no way he was going in the water. He said it would be too cold. He had a point about the water temperature, but - as I already said - you can't go to the beach and not play in the sea, right? So he stayed up the top of the beach with our stuff while we went to play in the sea for a bit. Hence me taking the photos of Mam. So, sorry if the photos of Mam aren't too great... I did my best.
Anyway...
On the way back up the beach Mam decided she wanted to collect shells. She says she's going to put them in her garden somewhere. I don't have photos of them though... Mam is meant to be sorting photos of the shells to post on her own blog some time in the near future.

After some time to adjust, I don't tend to be bothered by cold temperatures. As you can see from the photo above though, Mam is another story. Poor Mam got a bit cold. Good thing we had a blanket she could wrap around herself. I did ask her at this point if she wanted to leave, but she didn't. Perhaps because Wayne was having such a great time with his kite?

I brought him the kite from the visitors centre thingy they had near the beach. It only cost me £1.50 and he happily played with that kite for about 2 hours. I think he'd have played longer, but he got hungry. LOL! So, I think that was £1.50 ($3) well spent, don't you?
Mam and I had our lunch after we played in the sea, because playing in the water made us hungry. I'm not sure what Mam had, but I had egg sandwiches. I did also take a salad with me, but I ended up taking it home and having it for dinner. I packed a salad for Mam too, but the lid came off the tub and it ended up more sand than salad... Oops!
Anyway...
The whole reason we were in the visitors centre was because I wanted a bucket and spade. You need those things for the beach, right? They had a sand castle making set, but it had things in it I didn't want. So I got seporate bits instead... Two different buckets, and two spades (in case someone else wanted to play in the sand too). I mostly played in the sand on my own though...

I've made loads of sand castles before, but usually someone else does the part where you turn the bucket over and get the sand out. I thought it was about time I did it on my own though. So, I tried... And I tried... And I tried again... And - eventually - I did it!

My first ever solo sand castle. :)
Mam helped me make another sand castle (once she'd warmed up a bit). It was better than the one I'd made on my own, but... *Shrugs*... Who cares. It was fun making both sand castles.

Oh no! Our castle is being attacked by dragons. Where are the knights when you need them?
One of those dragons is the teddy I brought home for Kero. The other one Mam kept.
We enjoyed ourselves making sand castles. Traditional ones, and... *Clears throat*... Not so traditional ones. I'd like to point out at this point that I had nothing to do with the following sand castle. If you want to blame anyone... Blame Mam.

Good thing the beach was pretty much deserted, isn't it? ;)
We left the beach soon after that. Though, not before allowing Wayne to demolish our sand castles.
We hadn't been entirely the only people there though.

The beach had quite high sand dunes. Mam and I literally had to climb them to get to and from the sea (no wonder we were hungry when we got back up the beach). We'd hardly made it back up the beach though when the tractor in the photo above started along the beach to flatten the sand dunes. If only he'd shown up a little sooner... LOL! Anyway, I had Mam's camera in my hand, so I figured I'd have a go at getting a photo of the tractor (I was told it was a tractor anyway). And this is that shot.
And that was the end of our beach trip. It turned out there was a dog beach where we went (just a little way up from where we were) so we could have taken the dogs with us. But we didn't know it existed until we went there, and it was too far to go back for the dogs then drive back to the beach again. We'll take them soon though (hopefully). Neither dog has been to the beach before, so it should be quite an interesting outing.
So...
After the beach we went to run a few errands. While we were doing this Mam decided to get a few of the photos from the beach printed. That was when our "suggestive sand castles" got their name.
What happened was...
We went in Asda and asked how long it took to get photos developed. They said they had a 1 hour service, so Mam decided to use it. After all, we had some things we wanted to look for in Asda, so why not? (We were going to go and have a cuppa in the cafe too, but the Asda we were at didn't have a cafe). Anyway, Mam picked the photos she wanted done, paid them, got her slip thingy for picking them up, and off we went.
When she went back for them an hour later they were ready for her, and both the men working behind the photo counter were waiting for her too. The conversation went something like this:
Mam: Are my photos ready?
Guy 1: Yes, they are indeed. And I love your sand castles.
Guy 2: Yes... Very nice suggestive sand castles.
Mam: What?
Guy 1: Maybe you should take yourself a look, love.
So, she had a quick look through the photos she'd printed. And...
Mam: Oh... I... I didn't know I'd printed that one.
She was embarrassed... They were amused. As for me? I was doubled up laughing. LOL!
On that note, I think that will do for today.
Enjoy whatever's left of your day! :)

P.S. I've had my hair cut since we went to the beach, so it's a lot shorter now than in these photos

Of course we do. ;)

Mother-In-Laws (AE&D)
Here's another blast from the past that I think you guys will like. It carries a very valuable lesson in it... Be careful what you say to and/or in front of children. You'll understand why as you read through it.
For as long as I can remember my Mam has said that Mother-In-Laws are cows. It's just a long standing joke she never tired of. We've never seen much harm in it. I mean, sure, it's kind of insulting to her Mother-In-Law, but we all know she doesn't really mean it.
Anyway...
This particular day - when Shireen was about 2 & 1/2 or maybe 3 - we were driving along (there was Dad, Mam, me, Jackie and Shireen). Shireen was in the "what's that?" stage... Apparently they all are about that age.
We happened to drive past a field of cows...
Shireen: Whassat?
Mam: Mother-In-Law
Dad: No... They're cows
Shireen: No... Auntie Ka say "Mother-In-Law"
Dad: Auntie Ka is wrong
Shireen: Auntie Ka not wrong! They Mother-In-Laws... What they say Auntie Ka?
Mam (obviously still not thinking): "Nag, nag, nag"
Jackie: Karen, don't tell her that!
That was when my Mam realised what she'd done. Unfortunately, it was too late... Try as we might we could NOT persuade Shireen that those things were cows. Nor that they actually said, "moo," not "Nag!"
Fast forward about 18 months or so... Shireen is now at school...
Jackie goes to pick Shireen up from school one day...
Shireen's teacher: Did you teach your daughter that a cow is a Mother-In-Law?
Jackie: What?
Shireen's teacher: We were learning about animals, and I was trying to teach the class about cows, sheep, etc... And the noises they make. When all of a sudden a little voice - your daughter's voice - informed me that the cow picture I was holding up was in fact a Mother-In-Law, and that they say, "nag," not "Moo."
Jackie quickly points out that it was my Mam who taught Shireen what those things were called and that she'd tried and failed to correct it. So, the teacher asked to speak with my Mam.
Shireen's teacher (holding up a cow picture): Karen... What is this?
Mam: It's a cow
Shireen's teacher: And what do cows say?
Mam: "Moo!"
Shireen's teacher: So, you do know then?
Mam: Yes
Shireen's teacher: Then kindly tell Shireen so that we don't have a repeat of the other day.
It took a lot of convincing on my Mam's part, but eventually she managed to persuade Shireen that they are also called "cows" (I think Shireen is still convinced they also get called "Mother-In-Laws" sometimes though... LOL!)
And that's why you should always be careful what you say in front of children... Especially since - as my Mam found out - you're never too old to get in trouble from a teacher. LOL!

Trips down memory lane (LBE but AE&D + PTMI)
While reading Wifey's post for Saturday I was reminded of some of the not so pleasant public experiences I've had when out with my Mam's Goddaughter. I'm not going to post the one simular to Wifey's... It was very nearly identical anyway, so there's no point. But I thought I'd share a couple of them with you. Shireen is now 10 years old (today is her 10th birthday) and these happened when she was between the ages of 3 and 5 years old.
***~***
I took Shireen to town to run some errands with me. Jackie (her mother) needed some done too, so she gave me her bag to go run her errands while I was out so that she wouldn't have to do them later.
Picture the scene:
I walk in to a crowded shop. Shireen (aged 3) is in her pushchair with her mother's bag on the back of it, which also contains my wallet. I pick up the required items and go to pay for them. The items in question are for Jackie, so it's her purse that I pull out of the bag. I'm just pulling it open to remove some cash when...
Shireen: Hey! That my Mummy's purse! You not allowed to touch!
Me: Shhh... Mummy knows I've got it
Shireen: I tell Mummy! You not allowed!
I go to hand the cash over the top of the pushchair, and two little hands come up and snatch at it. So she's clinging to the money while I'm trying to pry her little fingers off without hurting her (which, by the way, isn't as easy as it sounds).
Me: Come on, Shireen... Give me that. I want to pay and get out of here!
Shireen: No! My Mummy's! You not allowed!
Me: Mummy knows I have it... It's OK! Give me it, please?
Shireen: No!
Me: Please?
Shireen: No!
The argument progresses something like that for a few minutes. Meanwhile - un noticed by me - the cashier has called security.
To cut a long story short, I had to phone Jackie to have her verify that not only was I allowed to have and use her purse, but I was also allowed to have her child.
***~***
When Shireen was about 4 years old she developed an obsession with the movie "Matilda"... She watched it so many times she knew it word perfect, but still she "had to" watch it again, and again, and.... You get the idea!
Well, I don't know how it works in Canada and the USA, but over here children are free on busses until they reach their 5th birthday. Shireen's age was often questioned once we stopped using the pushchair, however, because she's always been big for her age.
So, picture this...
I get on the bus and show my disabled bus pass.
Bus driver (pointing at Shireen): What about her?
Me: She's only 4
Bus driver: She's a big 4
Me: I know
Shireen: I'm not 4. I'm 6 & 1/2! I was 6 in August! I told you, I was supposed to start school in September! (An almost word perfect line from "Matilda")
Me: You're 4 years old
Shireen: 6 & 1/2!
Bus driver: So, which is it?
Me: She's 4 years old!
Bus driver: She's says she's 6 & 1/2!
Me: She's obsessed with the movie "Matilda" and is quoting a line from it. I'm telling you, she's 4 years old!
Bus driver: You sure?
Me: Yes!
Bus driver: Really?
Me: Look! She's 4 years old... If you want I can phone her mother to verify!
After a few more minutes of arguing the people behind me were getting impatient. I was getting nowhere (and Shireen's constant "I'm not, I'm 6 & 1/2" was NOT helping!)
Eventually, however, another woman with a child came to my rescue saying that:
Woman: You're going to believe a child over an adult? You know what imaginations children have! Surely - even if you haven't got kids - you've heard some of their nonsense while driving the bus!
There were a few muttered agreements, and the bus driver decided to admit defeat and allow me to take her on the bus free of charge.
***~***
Whenever we got on the bus and sat down, I always told Shireen to "hold tight"... One day she learned why I say that (this happened some time between the other two).
The bus was FULL (and I mean it... The only seats left were the two Shireen and I took). And we had seats right at the front of the bus... Directly behind the driver. These particular seats face sideways. So...
Me: Now sit there tidy, and hold on tight!
Shireen: Why you always say hold on tight?
Me: Because if you don't you'll fall
Shireen: No... Wont! I big girl!
Me: Even big girls fall sometimes
Now, it's very important that you know I was sat sideways on my seat, only balanced on the edge, and not holding on... I was too busy making sure she was.
Me: So, hold tight, OK?
Shireen: 'K!
Just then the bus went round the corner (luckily just as Shireen had grabbed the bar beside the seat tightly). I, however, as I've mentioned, was NOT holding anything.
You can guess what happened.
Yep, I ended up on the floor.
I got up as quickly as I could, but - of course - everyone had noticed, even the bus driver.
Bus driver (laughing): Maybe you should hold on too?
Me (to the bus driver): Shut up!
Shireen: That why hold on?
Me: Yep... That's exactly why you should hold on!
(Meanwhile, the whole bus load of people is in hysterical laughter)
Shireen: Me hold on! Me hold on tight! Me not fall like you!
Me: Good girl
Shireen (giggling hysterically): You fall! I tell Mummy and Auntie Ka... You fall! You funny!
Not only did she tell them... She told EVERYONE she met. She still tells people from time to time now.
And, of course, both Shireen and that bus driver (and a couple of the passangers who witnessed it) took great delight in reminding me every time I got on the bus for about the next year to "hold tight, remember?"
The only good thing is... To this day Shireen holds VERY tight to a bar while sat on a bus. So tightly, in fact, her little knuckles are white from gripping that bar.
***~***
OK, this next one happened one weekend shortly before I went over to Canada... Shireen would have been about 4 & 1/2 years old.
We were in a cafe, with bags of stuff, drinks, food... You get the idea. And, because Shireen had spotted a friend from school out with her mother we were sat with them.
Anyone who's been around kids of that age know how quiet they aren't.
Shireen: I need to go toilet!
Me: OK... Do you need to go bad or can you wait until we're done?
(She could always hold really well).
Shireen: I need to go bad... I need a poo!
Me: Er... Right
Shireen's Friend: And I need a pee!
Shireen's friend's mother: I'll take them if you want... If you watch my bags
Me: Sure
They go off to the toilets, and I sit quietly drinking my drink while I wait for them to come back. The cafe was quite busy (and somehwere they knew me well by my given name) and Shireen had recently learned my name was "Victoria" not just "Tori" so, of course, was using it every chance she got.
So, all of a sudden this little voice shouts over the noise of the rest of the customers...
Shireen: I did it Victoria! I had a REALLY big poo! And it was SO smelly!
Everyone went silent and looked from her running back to me with a big grin on her face, to me sitting there, red faced and wishing I'd taken her somewhere they didn't know me, or taken her to the toilet myself... Or both!
***~***
Those are the main ones that stand out. Embarrassing in different ways to Wifey's, but still embarrassing... And never going to be forgotten (especially now I've told you guys... LOL!)

Or both!

Those are the main ones that stand out. Embarrassing in different ways to Wifey's, but still embarrassing... And never going to be forgotten (especially now I've told you guys... LOL!)

The seagull (FD but AE&D)
I've waited this long to post about this because I was waiting for my Mam to get a photo off her phone and on to the PC for me. It was a photo of the seagull in question. Unfortunately, she deleted the photo (possibly thinking she'd already given me a copy). So, I'll have to do the post without a photo. The photo isn't important to the post anyway... I just thought you'd all like to see it.
Anyway...
The hospital I go to for my eyes is right by the beach, so seagulls are seen and heard near the hospital on a regular basis. I've gone there since I was a new born baby, so I don't think about it.
Well... During my trip in to hospital in July, I was told about how the seagulls had been fed so often by patients of the hospital that they've learned when food time is and come to the windows just as it's being served. I did hear them at the windows, but never thought anything of it. I mean, I heard them there every other time I was at the hospital, so why would I?
When I went back in hospital in September I never really noticed whether they were there or not... I mean, that trip was quite stressful for me, and seagulls were the last thing on my mind.
But, when I went in again at the start of October, I had no choice but to notice the seagulls. Well, one of them at least. Why? Because this particular seagull showed up at the window to my room and proceeded to actually knock on the window with his/her beak about when food was being served... Scaring the life out of my Mam. LOL!
Every meal time it was back... Knocking on the window and staring at us with - as Mam put it - "It's beady, stary little eye." LOL! So I had my Mam take a photo of it (which I'd planned on posting on here when I was home).
My last trip in was the funniest with the seagull though.
We know it was the same seagull who came to the window and started knocking on it, because my Mam still had the photo on her phone at that point and compared the picture... It has a little red patch somewhere near it's beak that she used for comparison. So, either it's the same seagull, or the seagull has a twin.
Anyway...
It was stood there with it's beady eye on Mam, pleading with her to share her marmite breadsticks with it. And that's when it happened...
Mam said to the seagull, "Look at you over there... Staring at me with your beady little eye!"
And, just as the seagull opened it's mouth - possibly to squalk (or whatever it's called that they do) or possibly just hoping she'd throw it some food - someone said, "Hello."
Well... My Mam jumped so much I swear she left the floor! She also almost said something you really shouldn't be saying in a public place... Especially one where there are probably kids not too far away. She did recover herself in time to say, "Sugar," instead though. LOL!
Of course, it wasn't the seagull that had spoken, it was a nurse. She (the nurse) thought it was her coming in that had scared Mam so much, but I was pretty sure I knew differently. So, when the nurse was gone...
Me: You thought it was the seagull that spoke, didn't you?
Mam (trying not to laugh): No... I didn't
Me: Yes, you did. You always do that laugh when you're trying to hide something.
Mam: Well, it was staring at me... And it opened its mouth... And, I didn't know she was there.
She really thought the seagull said, "hello," to her. LOL!
She then decided to see if the seagull liked marmite. Turns out seagulls really do eat anything... They'll even fight over a marmite rice cake. LOL!
Mam: He likes it!
Me: Thought he probably would
Mam: He didn't wipe his chin
Me: Well, if it bothers you that much, wipe it for him
Mam: No way! I'm not doing that
Me: Well, maybe if you throw him a tissue he'll wipe it himself?
Mam: You think he will?
Me: Well, either that or he'll just eat the tissue
We were both quiet for a while, then...
Mam: How do you know it's a boy?
Me: I don't... But you seem sure it's a boy
Mam: No... I don't want to go close enough to look
Me: Sexing birds doesn't work the same as sexing dogs and cats... You can't just look underneath
Mam: Well, how do you tell if it's a boy seagull or a girl seagull then?
Me: I don't know... Ask it?
Mam: Are you a boy seagull or a girl seagull?
Seagull: Squalk!
Mam: It says it's name is Squalk
Me: But you asked it what it was, not who it was
Mam: I don't think it wants to answer
Me: Maybe it's too young to know?
Mam: No, it looks grown up
Me: Then maybe it just doesn't want us to know?
Mam: Maybe
Another pause.
Mam: There's more of them out there
Me: There would be
Mam: Awww... There's a baby one! Squalk, is that your baby?
Seagull: Squalkkkkk
Me: I think that meant yes
Mam: Wonder if Squalk is it's Mami or Dadi?
Me: Well, when you figure out whether he's a he or a she maybe you'll know the answer to that question.
She talked to the seagulls for a while longer, but it was just general babbling, so I wont bother posting it.

The award for the stupidest question goes to... (AE&D)
I've been asked several stupid questions over the years, but the stupidest one I've ever heard - from a doctor, I mean - was one I was asked during my last visit to the hospital.
I think the easiest way to tell you about it is to type up the conversation I had with the doctor in question.
Note: I'm not refering to the bit about "Congenital"... I've been asked that stupid question so many times I hardly notice it any more, and my response is automatic.
Doctor: It's your right eye we're dealing with, correct?
Me: Yes
Doctor: And you've previously had your left eye out... Is that right?
Me: Yes... About eight years ago now.
Doctor: So the eye in it is artificial?
Me: Yes, it is
Doctor: Why was it you had your eyes out?
Me: Congenital Glaucoma
Doctor: Oh? And, how long have you had that?
Me: Well, since the word "Congenital" is in it, I'd rather say it was from birth. What do you think?
Doctor: Yes... Of course...
(Slight pause while the doctor scribbles stuff in my medical notes)
Doctor: So... Can you see anything at all?
When I could stop laughing long enough I replied that, "Unless a microchip was put in the implants or artificial eye, which nobody taught me to work, I don't think that's possible... Do you?"
At least she had the decency to be embarrassed... LMAO!

The slug that wasn't a slug
I haven't done anything worth writing about today, so I thought I'd tell you about something funny - well, Kelly and I found it funny - that happened about a week ago.
Before I tell you, there are three things you need to know...
The first is that our kitchen sink is near the back door. In fact, when the back door opens it opens against the side of the sink so that you could stand at the sink and stick your head around the door and look out of it if you wanted to.
The second is that I'm not usually a girly type of person, but I act like a "proper little girl" over just one thing... Bugs. I can't stand bugs! Especially the icky slimy ones (like slugs). If they stay away from me, fine! But if they come anywhere near me... well, let's just say that's one of the few times I'm in a hurry to get anywhere... LOL!
The third is that I only ever have anything on my feet if it's either VERY (and I do mean VERY) cold, or I'm going out anywhere. The rest of the time I walk around in bare feet. Yes, even in the garden.
OK, so now you know those things, I can tell you what happened.
So...
I pulled everything out of the sink to run fresh water to wash the dishes, then put some stuff back in to soak. I'd shut the back door because it was getting late, but - of course - no sooner had I shut the door than Kero wanted out. No problem... I just opened the door and went out with him.
When I came back in I turned and shut the door. It was then that "something slimy" touched my foot. My first thought was, "OMG! Slug!" And off I ran in to the front room where Kelly was.
Me: There's a "something" on the mat by the door!
Kelly: What kind of something?
Me: I think it's a slug! Go get rid of it!
Kelly: Inside or out?
Me: INSIDE! If it was out I'd just shut the door on it, wouldn't I?
So, Kelly gets up and goes out to the kitchen.
Within less than a minute he's back in laughing.
Me: What's so funny?
Kelly: It wasn't a slug
Me (wondering what it could have been then): What was it then?
Kelly (laughing harder): A wooden spoon with some mashed potato still on it. You must have knocked it out of the sink when you were sorting the dishes. If you'd bent down to check you'd have felt the handle and known that.
Me (slightly defensively): Yeah, that may be. But if I'd bent down to check and it wasn't a wooden spoon I'd have felt a slug! Better to send you to rescue me from a wooden spoon than for me to bend down and touch an icky, slimy slug!
At that point we were both laughing too much for the conversation to go on any more. LOL!
So, there you go. The story of the slug that wasn't a slug but was, in fact, a wooden spoon in need of washing.

Watches, TVs, Weather and things
Back in October I got a watch that talks, only it was a digital watch with a speech function, not an actual talking watch. Personally, I didn't think here was a difference, but it turned out there was. The difference being that an actual talking watch "usually" talks until the battery is completely dead, where as a watch with a speech function will only speak if there is a certain amount of life in the battery, and that certain amount quickly becomes unavailable if the speech function is used regularly. Needless to say, I've had to replace the batteries in that watch twice since October, and to make it talk to me now would need to replace them a third time. As you can imagine that was getting annoying (not to mention costly) so I invested in a "proper talking watch" from the R.N.I.B. (Royal National Institute for the Blind). The new watch arrived yesterday. It's an analog watch with gold around the edge of the face (probably not real gold, but still) and an imatation leather strap, so it looks just like any other ladies' wrist watch, the only difference is there are a couple of extra buttons on the sides, one of which makes it speak when I want it to. Let's hope this one isn't so hard on batteries, LOL!
I've spent most of this week unable to watch the shows I watch because when our electric was turned off it seemed like it had done something to the freeview box. Turned out the only problem was I had the VCR (it's plugged in through the VCR to allow recording from the freeview box if needed) on the wrong AV channel. Oops! LOL! So, it's working perfectly fine again now.
The weather's been really weird today. This morning it was raining. Then it was sunny for a while in the early afternoon. Late afternoon we had hail. Then we got some more sun. Now we have hail again. I wish it would make its mind up... LOL!
My Mam got Kero a new football (as in Soccer ball) today. The idea being that Kero and I can have a little kick around in the garden or something. It's easy for me to find the ball because Kero stands by it yapping when it's not actually being kicked. Anyway, we played with it a while after she dropped it off with us, but then I had to put it away for a while. I was going to leave it out to "hopefully" break him of the "yapping every time there's a football around" habit, but - even though it's a tough ball - you can already see where he's been grabbing it. So, I put it away so we'd have it to play with another day. LOL!
Do you know how long a "jiffy" is? Most people assume it just means "as soon as I can"... Like ASAP... But it's apparently an actual measurement of time. The apparent measurement is 100th of a second. So, if someone tells you they'll be there in a jiffy, they're already late by the time they've finished saying it. There's my useless bit of info for you for this weekend. LOL!
Right, well, I'm going to let this do and go check other people's blogs to see if anyone's done anything interesting today. Yeah, I know, I'm a nosy cow, aren't I? LOL!

Cloudy but dry Tuesday
We've been having some awful weather. Well, awful if you don't like storms anyway, which means that people like Carl (my brother) who enjoy curling up in a blanket and listening to storms wouldn't have thought the weather was awful. The Monday after we moved in here, for example, the storm was so bad it knocked our electric off for a bit in the morning. Also, the lightning was so bright that even "I" could see it - even though it was day time, so light anyway - and the claps of thunder were impressive! And we've had several storms like that over the past couple of weeks. And then there's been the rain and the hail... There was meant to be snow too, but I guess it didn't make it this far South. We did get some frost though. Anyway, today is nothing like that. It's a bit cloudy, and not the warmest of days, but at least it's dry, and the sun is "trying" to shine. I even have washing on the line (first time I've been able to use the line since we moved in).
I've got the back door open, and Kero's running in and out as he pleases. I think he's enjoying it. We're keeping an eye on what he's up to though, just in case he finds a gap in the fence we hadn't noticed, or figures out that if he really wanted to he could jump the fence (it's only about 2 feet high). I'll be glad when we can get better - and higher - fencing sorted and he can be left out there for a couple of minutes without me worrying that he's done a runner and is on his way in to town again.
My Mam had to come get my mobile phone and take it to the shop for them to send off for me. I "think" I might have accidentally deleted the speech programme off it... Oops! What happened was... I was "trying" to figure out how to access the memory card on the phone so I could know how to access songs on it if I put them on there from my PC. I must have cleared the memory card - which was where the programme had been stored by the phone company - instead though, because the phone stopped talking to me. Normally if you turn it off then back on it'll sort itself out. Nope! So, I asked Kelly to take a look for me and he couldn't find the programme any more. I called the company and they said it sounds like I did what I think I did, so the phone has to be sent away again for the programme to be put back on it. Oops! They said if they have a phone with it already on in the store I'd be able to borrow that one while mine's sent away, but I don't think there's much chance of that. I've decided that from now on I'll leave the memory card well enough alone, and either get a cable for transfering from the PC to the phone or just make do with the songs we managed to send via bluetooth from my old phone (Ronan Keating - If Tomorrow Never Comes, and Doc Walker - Rocket Girl).
I think that's just about everything. So... Enjoy whatever's left of your day. :)

IT'S HERE!!! IT'S HERE!!! IT'S HERE!!!
Did I mention IT'S HERE!!!I did? Oh, OK then... LOL!
And now most of you are thinking something along the lines of... "What's here? Come on woman! Stop yelling 'IT'S HERE' and tell us what the hell you are talking about!"
Well, I'll tell you...
THE PARCEL FROM KERRY IS FINALLY HERE!!!
I was SO excited when it got here that I just grabbed it from the mailman and ran off... Kelly had to go sign for it for me. LMAO!!! Oops! Oh, well... the mailman got a laugh out of it... LOL!
Kerry probably figured out what I was yelling about from the start. And even if all the shouting "IT'S HERE" didn't tell her, the photo would have, since the thing Kero's chewing on in the photo is one of the MANY treats that she sent him... OMG! So many dog treats!!! You should have seen Kero when he saw all those treats! I'm not going to need to buy him any treats until his birthday (May 23rd) now... LOL! I'm going to have to get some more to send to Scotty since I didn't even get him half of what Kerry got Kero!
And, of course, there's all the CDs... gonna have loads of fun listening to all that new music and loading them on to the PC over the next few days. Hmmm... I wonder how much of it I can get done in time for my stream on Saturday... LOL!
So, all that's left to say is....... THANK YOU KERRY!!!
Oh, yeah... Sakura, Megan and Chance say thank you for their new toy, Kerry. And if you're wondering what toy... the box the stuff came in. LOL!
And, go take a look at my new video clips. There are about 7 of them... and one of them is Kero with the treat you see in the photo in this post.
Tori
Added 5:23 pm: Chance is a brat! I have spent the last six months searching for a treat he will eat because the girls were having treats and Kero was having treats and the hamsters were having treats and I didn't want him left out. I tried every treat I could find and he didn't want to know. And today... today he eats a damn KitBit!!! That was the first thing I tried him on!!! I mean, I have had KitBits in my house for over 2 years now, because Sakura likes them, and since he came here in May he has REFUSED to even sniff at them. And today he eats one! So, I gave him another.... and he ate that too! I ended up giving him about six of them because I couldn't believe it and wanted to make sure I was seeing right. Little sod! I swear he just did that "I don't like that one" routine to see what I'd do!

KB & MP3
I'm borrowing my Mam's old mp3 player - since she got a new one for Christmas - until I get myself one. I think this mp3 player is only about 256 MB though, so, it doesn't hold nearly enough songs. Still, it's nice to have some music to listen to when Kero and I go for walks. It does last long enough for that before repeating songs, but that's about it. LOL!Got carried away walking today. Had Kero at the park - so he was off his leash as usual - and Kero stopped for a sniff and I just kept going and next thing I know he's thundering along behind me trying to catch up. Oops! LOL! I usually see him stop and stop too, but he was on my left side and I can't see a thing on that side, so, he stopped, I didn't and poor Kero got left behind. He didn't seem bothered though. In fact, he seemed to enjoy the run. LOL!
So, as you can see I've been playing with my blog template again. I was browsing the templates and saw this one and liked it.
Wayne's here for the afternoon and he's playing a card game thing with Kelly. Not sure what kind it is - and not bothered about finding out either, lol - but they're playing it all the same. Wayne's having dinner here but he brought his own meal since, as I pointed out to him, Kelly and I are making for ourselves this week since we're using up stuff from the freezer from before and I'm eating the healthy stuff he's eating the other stuff. Then on Tuesday I'll do a proper shop and get the stuff we need to make our various meals.
Anyway, since Wayne keeps talking to me, so, I'm gonna end this now.
Tori
Note - added 5:30 pm: OK, well, as you probably figured it would, curiosity got the better of me and I asked Wayne and Kelly what they were playing. It's the World Of Warcraft card game. So now you know too. LOL!

Ouch!!!
yes... "ouch"... that was the only thing I could say without swearing when I got weighed today. I'm thinking Grandma's £10 is quite safe for a while. I'm also thinking my "hey. it's Christmas, what the hell?" approach to food over the past few weeks was a very bad idea! Why? Well, because I got weighed today and... well, the result here will tell you all you need to know!
Are you ready for this?
Are you sure?
OK.....
Weight today: 16 stone 6 lbs (230 lbs)
Weight before Christmas: 15 stone 8 lbs (218 lbs)
Total weight lost so far: 1 stone 4 lbs (18 lbs)
Oops...
So, as of last night I was on my 'healthy eating, exercise and proper routine". And after this result I'm even more determined to ignore those snacks, because I've got to get this weight back off and the rest of it off to get down to being at least close to 12 stone (168 lbs) by June this year.
Anyway, I'm off to go make me some dinner.

Just thought I'd give you a laugh... ready???
Right, so...
I was sat on the edge of the bed and leant over to hand Kero a treat (it was when we were going for our nap) anyway, I lost my balance and somehow ended up sat in Kero's dog bed. And Kero, Megan and Chance were just sat the looking at me like "WTF are you doing???"
I was laughing so hard I couldn't get up and Kelly was laughing so hard he couldn't help me up. The first one to manage to recover enough to move was Kero who came over me and started licking me frantically and wagging his tail excitedly (which, of course, made me laugh even more). It took a good 20 minutes before I could stop laughing enough to get out of the dog bed!!! Of course, it didn't help that Kelly was able to stop laughing first and told me that Kero says if I wanted to swap beds I should have just asked! LMAO!!!

Shireen turns eight and November ends
OK, here is the second of those three sunset photos that I took a couple of weeks back. I was going to post a photo of Shireen today since it's her birthday - HAPPY 8th BIRTHDAY SHIREEN - but when I went to I realised I don't have any of them on my PC so decided to just forget that idea and post the next sunset photo.Anyway...
Turned on my PC today and couldn't type. So, after checking that it was plugged in (for some reason, it wasn't... can you say "bad kitty?") and doing a restart I get the keyboard typing, but only if I held down the key for a certain amount of time, which totally stumped me for a while. Then I remembered something I'd seen when checking settings when I first got the new PC and went and looked in the keyboard's setting... Anyway... to cut a long story short, it turned out that for some strange reason the box by the option to "ignore single key strokes" (or something like that) has checked. So, I unchecked that box and now it works fine. Thankfully! I thought for a minute there that I should have gotten a new keyboard when I got the new PC. I'm glad that turned out not to be the case! LOL!
Well, I decided to make a new page for my poems, so, if you direct your attention to the right in the sidebar (under the heading of "Also See...") then you will see the link to Tori's Poetry Spot. I've only gotten about half of my poems on there so far, but anyway, it's there if you want to look. I've used the "post labels" option to make a bit where you can browse my poems by subject, which I'm pretty pleased with myself for doing. LOL!
Anyhow, the table is booked for us for my Mam's birthday dinner on Saturday December 16th (her birthday is on the 19th, but Jo can't make it for her actual birthday so we're going early). They wanted me to book it since I have the number of the Chinese place Mam and I love saved in my mobile phone where as Mam would have to look it up. LOL! But, anyway, I booked it today because I wanted to make sure we could go at the time we wanted so that it doesn't interfere with my stream and the campaign thingy that Kelly's starting up with the club. I was worried if we left it too long there would be so many people booking Christmas dinners and such that we wouldn't even get a table for one, let alone a table for three... lol!
The radio just made me laugh - again - there was an advert on it (for a child trust fund in case you wanted to know) and it always makes me laugh... why? Well, because the main part of the add is this little kid - can't be older than eight or nine, if that - saying, "the incey, wincey spider climbed up the water spout, down came the rain and.... well... flooded the main drain basically" then it goes on to talk about you not knowing what your child will be when he or she grows up so open it a trust fund, and then before they end it this same kid says, "see, it wasn't just the spout, it was the whole drain... talk about shoddy workmanship!" LOL!
So, anyways, now that I've told my Mam about it I can tell you guys what I did the other day. So, like I said yesterday, I got my new CD rack and while I was changing stuff about a bit to put that where I wanted it I decided to put my ornaments up on higher shelves where the cats don't go so much so that they should be safe (since they've already broken a couple, though none that I really liked, lol). Anyway, I was up on a chair putting my ornaments up and lost my balance... I had a choice at this point, let go of the ornament I was holding (a crystal horse) and make sure I got my balance back, or, hold on to it and fall and hope it didn't break. Well, figuring it would break either way anyway, I let go off it. Managed to steady myself on the chair but - as predicted - the horse hit the floor and... SMASH! Luckily, Sakura and Megan were out and the smash was enough to send Kero and Chance from the room as fast as their little paws would carry them, giving me time to carefully climb down and pick up the piecess of ornament. I did look to see if it could have been repaired, but nope! And it was one of my favourites too!!! I now have a cut across my thumb where a piece of it bounced off the floor and hit my hand, but other than that no damage was done to anything or anyone but the ornament. So, that's good, I guess. Still, I did love that ornament!
Wow... we're on the last day of November already!!! This means that tomorrow my decks are going up and the countdown to Christmas will begin! Woohoo!!! However, this also means I better get my butt in gear and get these cards written and the rest of these presents wrapped (or, if I don't have them yet, get them brought and then wrapped) or they wont get to people in time!!!
Hey, would you believe me if I said that when I came on here to post today I wasn't sure wht I was going to say other than that it was Shireen's birthday. In fact, when I first started my blog I really had no idea what I was going to write about, I just wanted one because my Grandma and my Great Aunt Lizzie had each made one and I wanted to see how they worked. LOL!
