My afternoon with Carl

Carl and Rachel are visiting for a few days to attend the pre-wedding party my Mam is throwing for them this evening. And, this afternoon, Carl came down to spend some time with me.

We cooked ourselves pasta, hot dogs and cheese for lunch, which was really nice. Then we took Kero out for a walk along by the river, which I know Kero REALLY enjoyed, and we enjoyed it too. It would have been even more enjoyable if my eye had stopped hurting though, but that can't be helped. I don't think I'm going to get pain-free time until after the op now. *Sigh*

Anyway... After we'd taken Kero for a walk, I washed up the lunch dishes in between showing Carl a few things I wanted him to take a look at. Then we baked some cakes, which were very nice, if I do say so myself. LOL!

While the cakes were cooking, we played battleships. We only played one game, which I won. Then we played Snakes and ladders. And, guess what? I won that to. We'd planned on playing best of three, and it turned out I won two games in a row, so we never played the third game. Besides, by that time it was pretty much time for Carl to go.

Yep, it's been a good day... I'm knackered now though! LOL! :)

Sure sounds like you had a great time with Carl today. I hope everyone has a nice time at the party this evening, too.

Aw, it sounds like you had a great time with your bro. I'm glad to hear that some folks get along so well with their sibs.

When are you having surgery??? Am I right in assuming that you're talking about surgery to release the pressure that's built up in your eye??? (((((HUGS))))) I hope the pain is managable, Tori.

Yes, I did enjoy with Carl. Don't know how the party went though, since we (Kelly and I) didn't go, and I haven't really had a chance to speak to anyone else yet today.

Kati:
Yeah, Carl and I are pretty close. I think part of it could be that we're so close in age (there's about 13 months between us... He's the older one). Also, Carl and I do have some common interests, so that helps. Not everything we like is the same, but there are a few things we both enjoy.

Anyway...

Kati and Kaylee:
I guess you missed the post I did a little over a week ago about the surgery? It was called "an eye, a scan and a dinner" or something like that.

Well... Anyway...

No, the op's not to relieve pressure. I've had that op done a couple of times in the past, but there's such a slim chance that'd help any more there's no point. The op is to remove the eye. It doesn't work any more and nobody can do anything to change that (I've seen all sorts of specialists "just in case") so since I'm in so much pain, we've all decided that's the best way to go. Especially since nothing seems to give me any relief from the pain any more.

I've always had some pain from time to time. Especially on sunny and warm days. But now the pain is constant. Even during dark and cold nights. And, I've had enough! There's only so much pain someone can take, especially from something that no longer serves any other purpose.

As for when... I'm not sure right now. I'm waiting for the appointment for my pre-op consultation, then I should have a better idea. All I know right now is it'll be some time in the next few months. We're hoping before the end of July, but no guarantees on that right now.
