Random question: Direct threat

Why do some people consider everything bad that happens around them to be either a direct threat to them, or a result of someone's reaction to something they did or didn't do?

I don't really know the answer to that question but some people are not happy unless they have a lot of drama in their lives. If they don't have it, they create it.

I think some of the "reaction" is out of the deep in the gut knowing that life is not only unpredictable, its uncontrolable.

And that lack of predictability or control upsets them.

The "reaction" manifests, or gets expressed, in a human way that doesn't alway sync with the cause.

Some people have a lot of trouble "going with the flow" and not worrying about things that they can't change or control.

Some people lack confidence in themselves so they retreat and defend. I have been guilty of that on several occasions.

I believe it all depends on the person's upbringing and formative years. During the years while the person is growing up (from childhood to early adulthood), the words and actions of others shape how we mature. You could have a great childhood and feel like you could take on the world and then along comes some jackass who gets you to believe that quite the opposite is the case. The victim (and yes, that's exactly what these people are... victims) of the manipulator can go from a bright and vibrant person into this shadowy shell of themselves. The damage can be repaired but it takes a very long time. Sometimes it takes years to unravel the mess that is left in their mind. The person becomes shy, paranoid and self-loathing. The sooner they're removed from the influence of the stronger personality, the better off they are.

Not sure why this question came up, but I'll keep the subject of it in my thoughts no matter who it is.

Everyone handles things different and some automatically take the defensive side of things. It is the way they are and they will never change.
