Question: home library

I know that at least most of the people who visit my blog love to read.

So I have a question for you all... What kinds of books make up your home library?

Meaning... Are most of your books by the same author? Or, are most of your books the same type of book (e.g. ghost stories, poetry, books on photography, autobiographies of favourite celebrities, etc)?

Another good question!

Hmm.. I usually try to read the best of a prolific (theres that word again) author if I enjoy them (such as Tom Clancey) or many of the books on the same subject (like all the star trek books) but my library (such as it is) which fills eight floor to ceiling deep (triple stacked and triple rows on a shelf) doesn't have any dominant "theme" to it, except about half of them are history (in the broadest terms) and perhaps a third of them "travel-oriented or related", and the remainder a real hodgepodge of just about anything you could name (including technical manuals for old computers including the eniac, flight instruction and repair guides for airplanes, train operation manuals, carousel animals, Carl Sandberg's 6 volume set on Abe Lincoln and so on)

We've got some ecclectic tastes here. Hubby's mostly a Clancy and history type reading buff. Several shelves are dominated by Star Trek and Star Wars books. Im not so fond of the Star Wars ones (they dont grab my attention) but the Star Trek ones do. Im pretty specific on which ones I'll read though. Like Im not fond of the original series books but I love the Next Generation ones. If Peter David wrote it, I'll generally check it out as there are very few of his that I dont like. The Deep Space Nine ones I enjoy too...especially those 3 or 4 that deal with different species centered around the same basic story. Then there are my VC Andrews books...Ive got several complete sets and the Black Stallion series that Im starting to get. We also have all the Harrys, the Lord of the Ring ones, the Eragon set (wanna get the third book when it comes out)...a few others...all hard cover versions. Then there are my Calvin and Hobbes books and several others I cant remember...some Dummies books...

I have tons of books but unfortunately most of my stuff is in NM (long story) at this time. Most of my books are spiritual in nature.....for instance I love to read books by Wayne Dyer and Deepak Chopra, Doreen Virtue and Sylvia Browne. I have lots of New Agey type books. I also have lots of old Classics like Edgar Allen Poe. In the past I read lots of silly romance novels but today....something has changed and I prefer the types of books I read now. Barb

Thanks for answering everyone. :)

Iggy:
Nice mixture there. :)

LadyStyx:
So, mostly Sci-fi and fantasy type stuff then? :)

Barb:
Sounds like you have a pretty good library there. :)

Yep. Love me some fiction to escape from the day to day.

Better late than never, you'll read this when you get home after your op.

Most of my books are either romance novels or American Civil War books.

I do have most of the John Grisham books I think, but I haven't read most of them.

I have all the Postsecret books published (4 of them).

I have all the Calvin & Hobbes cartoon books.

I do have a few mystery books, a Sherlock Holmes book, some "Murder She Wrote" books that were my adopted gramma's. I have many of the Quantum Leap books that came out back when the series was on tv.

Lately I've started getting more into American History from the time of the revolution, the original formers of our constitution, first presidents, etc.

Quite a variety, lol.
