According to the radio...

According to the radio the rate of unemployment in the UK will reach the two million mark today. Also, if things continue as they predict they will, then within the next year that number could increase to three million.

And, what is it that they predict? Well, apparently, this year will be rough for the whole world, with almost every country in a recession. However, next year most of those countries "should" begin to see things improving, with the exceptions being the UK and Japan. Apparently those two countries will go the opposite way.

We shall see.

I think that makes it about 5.7% unemployed in the UK. At some point the illegal immigrants in the UK are going to be the target of violence.

I think the current number is 8.1% in the USA. Of course in the USA, it seem like only half the people that have jobs, actually do any work.

That's scary Tori. I have also heard that this country will start to recover within a year. In this state we have not yet been too affected by the recession. Yes there are layoffs but there are still also jobs to be found out there. Like Iggy says...even the people who do have jobs don't actually do any work. It's so true. The work ethics of people here are pitiful!

Very true. You get people like that here sometimes too.

As for the bit about the treatment of illegal imegrents... Some places there is already some hostility towards them. Not so much because of where they come from but because they're taking away the jobs and homes that are available for those who entered the country legally or who have lived here for several generations. There's nothing too bad at the moment, but if things keep up as they are then there will be. People from the more rural areas are a bit wary of strangers as it is, so when those strangers are the reason they're struggling to get food on the table things are going to get nasty.

Yes, that is scary. And, yes, that's what was said about the US on our radio too (that many parts haven't really been effected, and that those that have been will at least begin to see improvements next year).

Unemployment is a serious problem here in Washington State. We're somewhere between 8 - 10% and the worst is yet to come!!

Saw your comment on Barefoot in the Garden. I just HAD to hop over as I've never visited a Welsh blog before. :)
