Race To Witch Mountain

"Walt Disney Pictures resurrects one of their time-honored franchises with Race to Witch Mountain, a family-oriented sci-fi adventure that tells the story of two alien visitors (AnnaSophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig) whose search for their spacecraft gets them caught up in an adventure with a cab driver (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) and a UFO specialist (Carla Gugino). As the group races toward the mysterious mountain in the Nevada desert that has mystified scientists and paranormal researchers for years, the government, gangsters, and an extraterrestrial bounty hunter attempt to prevent them from reaching their intended destination."

It was a pretty good movie, but nowhere near as good as "Escape To Witch Mountain" was.

Most sequels don't measure up to the original. "Escape To Witch Mountain" will continue to be the best of the lot. :)

The subsequent LOTR and Harry Potter moviess aren't tecnhincally "sequels" since they really continuations - some semantic hair splitting for ya... :)

I agree.

And, while I also agree that the Harry Potter movies aren't sequels, but continuations, I still think the first movie is the best of the lot (despite book 3 being my favourite).

Yup--that's the trouble with sequels. Most of the time not as good as the first.

Funny how "The Rock" has been in so many kids' movies. Not what you would have expected years ago--hehe! ;)

I'm a fan of "The Rock". :) I haven't seen this movie but would be interested in watching it sometime.
